Overall:
Status:Discontinued. This gun was made in 1993 and 1998, and may be
available in some locations.
Classification:Medium assault rifle. Due to it only having a 1X nozzle, it is a
medium assault rifle, ohh but what a sweet medium assault rifle it is!
Uses: All around weapon. Great for raids, sniper operations( a sniper
needs a reliable weapon), up front fighting.
Average price: $15 US
Versions: 3, 1993 version with unscrewable nozzle and 90 degree
tank connection, 1998 (classic) version with improved threaded 180 degree tank connection,
no unscrewable nozzle and different colors, and 1998 (classic) version same as other
classic but with the color scheme as the 1993 version.
Performance:
Water capacity versus
nozzle output: Excellent. The weapon has a medium water
supply, and the nozzle size fits it very well, so it doesn't drain it too fast.
There is no reason to modify the nozzle,
Water distance: 30-35 ft. It hits 35 ft. on the ground, so you could probably hit
someone a mazimum of 30 ft. away
Nozzle size: 1x. While it has a small nozzle, a well trained Xp-150 user can
take on a 1200.
Sting factor(power of
stream) scale of 1-10: 5. This weapon has enough power
to be irritating at closer ranges.
Wind deflection: Medium. The stream will go through wind ok, but
will start to break up
Water tank vs. Pressure chamber
ratio: Fully pumped, about 3 or 4
Actual weapon:
Ruggedness:Excellent. The gun, overall is very tough. It has no pieces
sticking out that would break off. The plastic is fairly thick. The design of the
pump is also very tough.
Construction:very good. Although the gun has a fault at the nozzle, the rest of
the gun is very well constructed. Everything works as it should and the 4 piece
body+barrel is a nice touch. The trigger setup is a little awkward, but works well.
Field use:Excellent. The only problem I had is when I rolled and crawled, the
tank moved out of its slot and slightly turned about 15 degrees. I just put it back
in its slot(this was only on the 98 model.
Specialized or Versitile? Very versatile. You could take this gun anywhere
and it would still prove to be a valuable asset to the arsenal.
Designs
Looks: Excellent. This gun has the classiest design I have ever seen.
It just looks so good.
Features: Guided pump, which is one of the best designs ever, dual separate
pressure chambers, 4 piece construction. Extra large pump capacity.
Comfort: Extra nice feeling handle. Nice and smooth, no sharp or rough
spots. Very intelligently-designed trgger guard. If you can't remember what
the trigger guard feels like(as I can't) then it is a good design. Nice feeling
pump.
Balance: Incredible. This gun feels wonderful in your
hands, whether full or empty. If you put a strap on it, though, the gun will have a
tendancy to be top heavy, so be careful when you strap it on your back.
Can you put a strap on
it? Yes, it has excellent locations for a strap.
Other
Things to note: Awkward tank connection, bright colors, hard to get open up,
unscrewable nozzle on the first model(1993)
modified or not modified? Modified, read below
Could this gun use camoflage? Yes
Recommended? Of Course!
This is the best assault
rifle ever made by Super Soaker. Its power, looks, feel, and ruggedness are
unmatched. Too bad Super Soaker has no guns like this now. I bought mine back in 99,
and I have had it ever since. This gun has a nice size water tank(some people
complain about having to turn the gun upside down to get the tank off, but you get used to
it), two pressure chambers, which allow for longer shots, a guided pump handle under the
barrel, which makes it very stable, and the pump bar has a large capacity so this weapon
requires very little pumping to get it to maximum power. Since my weapon is two
years old, I don't pump it up to the absolute maximum(I know where this gun performs the
best), but with a high number of pumps, this gun gets an average of about 30-35 ft.
Another nice feature is this weapon has perfect locations for a strap to be tied to
it(something most people don't think about when shopping for a water gun)
This weapon feels great in
your hands. It is THE definition of balance. This gun has just the right
water capacity, just the right nozzle size, just the right pressure chamber capacity, just
the right pump capacity, and just the right power for its size. It is rare that a
weapon comes so balanced. Some guns may shoot harder or carry more water, but they
usually have some downfall that brings them below the XP-150. This gun truly has no
real downfalls. It reminds me of an M-16 assault rifle. The M-16, (the real
gun) Is not too heavy, carries a decent magazine capacity, and has great firepower,
looks good, and in water gun wars, the XP-150 is its equivalent.
The XP-150 is such a classy
looking weapon! It bothers me how many people don't even care what their water gun
looks like! This weapon beats all others for looking totally sweet. And if
your going to be a water gun warrior, you have to have a classy looking weapon!!!
The only problem with this
weapon is on the inside. The plastic o-ring holder that seals around the metal
puller(attatching to the trigger) coming out of the back of the nozzle assembly is just
superficially glued on, and if you give it enough time, it will break and the gun will
start to leak. So you need to open the gun up as soon as you can(much easier fixed
if NOT allready broken) Please visit the XP-150 guide
for more info. the other issue is getting inside the gun since the caps are GLUED on and
don't screw off, you will have to saw or file part of the caps away. This is
explained more in the Xp-150 guide. Once this is fixed, this is probably the most reliable
weapon you will ever own. It you find one, pick it up, or send me an email.
All in all, the best weapon I
have ever used. This gun has never failed me in combat. With a few mods this weapon
is the finest super soaker your will ever see, and with respect and proper care, you will
be able to use it war after war after war...
