Overall:
Status: Discontinued. I remember buying one in 1999
Classification: Super light rifle.
Uses: High mobility operations, small skimishes, raids.
Average price: (1999) $15
Versions: One version
Performance:
Water capacity versus
nozzle output: Excellent. With the nozzle set on rapid
fire, it would fire quite a while. On regular, it was just fair.
Water distance: I cannot recall.
Nozzle size: Pretty small, 1x or smaller
Sting factor(power of
stream) scale of 1-10: 1, almost no sting factor at all.
Wind deflection:severe if the wind picked up, the stream reminds me of a
stock 600
Water tank vs. Pressure chamber
ratio: Single reservoir design
Actual weapon:
Ruggedness: Very good. Excellent for the majority, but for the nozzle, it
would snap off.
Construction: Very good construction. Actually excellent. It's just that
weak nozzle!!!
Field use: Excellent back up weapon. Just don't put it in a
back pack. I think I did that to mine after I had all ready repaired the nozzle, and
it snapped off again.
Specialized or Versitile? A little versatile, for a small arm.
Designs
Looks: Decent looks.
Features: Single reservoir, unguided pump, rapid fire capability.
Comfort: Very comfortable, except I think I remember my hand slipping off the
pump handle a lot. My hand would hit the gun and that would hurt!!!
Balance: I can't remember the balance of the gun.
Can you put a strap on
it? No
Other
Things to note: Bright orange nozzle.
modified or not modified? Not modified, except to strengthen the rapid fire nozzle, like glue
something around the whole nozzle to protect it.
Could this gun use camoflage? no, not really, except the nozzle and trigger
Recommended? Yes, if you don't mind repairing it if it breaks or if you would be
willing to put a cover over the nozzle to protect it. It is actually a decent
weapon.
This was pretty much the
first super soaker I can remember buying. It was either back in 98 or 99. I
don't think I have this gun anymore. I remember going down to kmart and looking at
the guns there(before you read this part, remember that I was, at this point in my life,
just beginning to get into water guns) and the two guns I remember were the Xp-150 and the
Xp-90. OHHHHHHHH, the water warriors dream! A WHOLE WALL full of brand new
XP-150s and part of the wall with XP-90s. And guess what I did...I bought the
XP-90!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know I know, pretty sad...but I'm laughing too. But it's ok,
after I had this gun for a while, I went back and bought an XP-150. Anyways, I was
attracted to the rapid fire thing. Who wouldn't be? It sounded pretty cool, a
machine gun Super Soaker! Well, I got it home, tried it out, and was pretty
impressed. Even though it had a weak stream, it sure was cool! That is, it was
cool until the day it broke, then it wasn't cool. The rapid fire nozzle broke off,
like most of them did. I tried to fix it once, and it worked, but then I bumped it
against something else and it broke off again. Actually, I think I had it in my
backpack and I leaned against something and SNAP! I also think the water tank
cracked near the top where the threads are. Ahhh, we all have lessons that we
learned, and this is no exception. One of the not as memorable times of my water
warfare days, but then again, it was a good lesson. To not just look at the hype,
but to see things as they are.
I remember the day of getting
these guns (XP-55 and XP-90, both on the same day) and the XP-55 won hands down.
While not much to look at, the XP-55 had it where it counts.
Anyways after the nozzle
broke off, I just used it as a riot blast weapon until I looked around for it one day and
it was gone.
