In the third place game, #18 LA Valley held off a late charge from Mt. SAC and held on, 81-78. SG Alex Cabagnot had 16 pts on 4 threes plus a pair of FTs that helped seal the win. PF Midwin Francis finished with 15 pts plus game-highs of 9 rebs and 5 steals. PG Carlos Rivers dished out 7 asts.
The Mounties trailed by 19 early in the second half before rallying behind guards Reggie Wallace (20 pts, 9 asts) and Dino Wilburn (19 pts). They closed the gap to 2 with just over 4 minutes left and had a chance to tie at the buzzer when Wilburn's three bounced off the rim.
