In the third place game, College of the Canyons (4-5) got past Santa Monica (4-5), 56-51, in an game full of missed shots and turnovers. The Cougars shot just 37% and committed 22 turnovers, but got to the free throw line 30 times (and made 21 FTs) which proved to be the difference. PF Jamaal Lee had a big game off the bench for COC, scoring 14 pts and grabbing 10 rebs. SG Matt Nelsen added 11 pts for the winners. For Santa Monica, PG/SF Marko Mihailovic had 19 pts, and SF Ronald Eskridge had 12 pts and 13 rebs. Santa Monica shot 9-for-28 (32%) in the first half, and then proved it was no fluke by going exactly 9-for-28 in the second half as well. They also matched COC's total of 22 turnovers.
