Palomar 79, Long Beach 72

In the third place game, Palomar (3-10) used some torrid shooting to rally from an 11-point halftime deficit and top Long Beach (8-9), 79-72. The Comets made 12 of their first 14 shots after halftime to build a 10-pt lead midway through the second half and after Long Beach closed the gap to single point at 71-70, managed to hang on for the win. Palomar, which entered the tourney with a 1-9 records, shot 78% (18/23) for the second half and 57% for the afternoon to win their second game of the weekend.

SF Jordan Feramisco led the way with 24 pts, but was just one of 5 Comets in double figures. Ctr Darren Triba had a double-double with 10 pts and 10 rebs. PG Abdullah Karimi scored all 13 of his pts in the second half, including a pair of 3-pointers. SG Javon Williams scored all 11 of his pts (on 5/5 shooting) in the second half. SG Isaiah Orange had a big game off the bench with 13 pts and 7 rebs.

For Long Beach, PG Keilon Fortune scored 20 of his 23 pts in the second half to keep his team in the game, but missed a pair of shots in the final minute. Guard Ken Wright was the only other Viking in double figures, finishing wiht 13 pts plus 7 asts, and also led LBCC with 5 rebs.

Palomar shot 78% for the second half, including 12 of their first 14 which allowed them to build a 10-pt lead at 59-49. LBCC ralllied to close the gap to a point at 71-70 but Palomar never lost their lead. Baskets by Feramisco and Williams, and 2 FTs each by Feramisco and Karimi sealed the win for Palomar.
