Oxnard 105, Big Bend (WA) 96

Jeremiah Massey scored 28 pts and grabbed 12 rebs to earn tourney MVP honors and lead Oxnard (16-3) to a 105-96 win over Big Bend of Washington (9-3) for the championship of the Canyons Holiday Tournament. After missing his first 6 shots of the day, Massey made 12 of his last 13 and was the only player in the game with more than 8 rebs. For the 3-game tourney, he finished with 93 pts.

Oxnard led for virtually the entire game, often by about 20 points, before a spirited but belated comeback by Big Bend made the final score a little closer. The Condors led by 18 at the break and their lead was never less than 7 after the opening minutes of the game.

Joining Massey on the all-tournament team was SG Erik Webb, who had 14 pts and 8 rebs in the final. SF Paul Guerrero had a strong game with 22 pts plus 7 rebs. PF Kerwin Forges had 18 pts and 5 rebs. And PG Thomas Caveness handed out 11 asts.

Big Bend scored 62 pts in the second half to make the final score close, and never stopped playing hard regardless of the score. SF Luke Seidel had an excellent game with 30 pts, 7 rebs and 9 asts. PF Leigh Castillo finished with 21 pts on 10 of 11 shooting. SG Jeff Pittard added 12 pts and 5 rebs. Seidel and Castillo were named to the all-tourney team.
