Ventura 77, LA Valley 76

PG Roosevelt Bolden scored 16 pts, all in the 2nd half, and the Pirates held on by the slimmest of margins against Valley at Ventura.

Valley trailed by as many as 14 in the 2nd half, but had a chance to tie or take the lead several times in the final seconds. With Ventura leading by 2, SG Curtis Isom stole the ball and took a three-pointer that missed, and PF Midwin Francis got the rebound. But his 2-point try also missed, and Ventura got the rebound. After a FT, Valley trailed by 3 when SG Alex Cabagnot was fouled trying a 3-pointer with 0.1 secs left. But he made only the first 2 FTs, and the third try bounced off the rim, allowing Ventura to escape with the win.

Bolden nailed 4 threes and also handed out 4 asts for the winners. SG Elijah Muldrow had 14 pts and 4 blocks off the bench for the Pirates. Backup PG Rashien Little led VC with 5 asts, while C Raheem Jones grabbed a game-high 10 boards.

Updated Records Ventura 5-1, Valley 4-3

Ventura led the whole second half, and by as many as 14, but it almost got away. Isom & Francis both had chances to tie it or give Valley the lead in the final seconds, and Cabagnot had 3 FTs with 0.1 left - he made the first 2 to let Ventura off the hook. All Bolden's pts were in 2nd half. Ventura did a 5 x 5 substitution pattern every 4 mins or so until the final 8 mins of the game.
