BRODEUR MAKES HISTORY
3 2
The Devils' Martin Brodeur accomplished something Sunday that no other NHL goalie ever has. Brodeur held back the Wild 3-2 in East Rutherford, becoming the first goalie in league history to ring up eight consecutive 30-win seasons. Even better, the victory moved New Jersey within one point of the Senators for best record in the NHL. Patrik Elias, Colin White, and Jamie Langenbrunner scored for New Jersey.

BRYLIN GONE FOR 2-3 MONTHS

Versatile Devils left wing Sergei Brylin had surgery on his broken right wrist Feb. 6 and is expected to be sidelined two-to-three months. He most likely will miss the rest of the regular season and the first month of the playoffs. Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello characterized the injury as a severe break and said doctors placed a pin in the wrist. Brylin was injured in the first period of a 4-1 victory over Washington Feb. 5. He was checked along the boards by Washington's Steve Konowalchuk and collided with teammate Colin White. Brylin, a nine-year veteran, has 11 goals in 51 games.

TVERDOVSKY STILL AILING

Oleg Tverdovsky is suffering from the after-effects of a concussion, the New York Post reported Jan. 28. According to the newspaper, Tverdovsky traveled to Montreal to visit neurologist Dr. Karen Johnston, a noted hockey head injury specialist. The 26-year-old defenseman was diagnosed Jan. 19 as having sustained a concussion in recent months, and will not be cleared to play again until he can execute a prescribed series of exercises without suffering any further symptoms, such as dizziness or nausea. Tverdovsky may have suffered the concussion Nov. 27 at Detroit. He also took another significant blow on Dec. 18.
