Thanks to friends in the Guadalajara Philharmonic orchestra, we now possess a rare copy of this 1947 novel with a strangely familiar title (it was also turned into a movie, we were told... obviously not a blockbuster).

ZOTZ! by Walter Kariq 15 the tale of a professor of ancient civilizations who comes upon a mysterious disc inscribed with an “Astyparaean formula that bestows upon him “the power of the Silent Death.” A thunderbolt from the god Zotz leaves Jones both with the ability to kill by pointing his finger... and with a mysterious unclad female who may or may not have been sent by the ancient ones to keep an eye on their new champion.

The story begins well, but Jones’ frustration at the Army, Navy and FBI’s disinterest in his Ultimate Weapon soon becomes our own, as he is forever shuffled from one government bureaucracy to another, pathetically begging for nothing more than a chance to give Hitler the finger.

ESPELEOOLUB ZOTZ (any connection between Astyparaean and Mayan is purely coincidental) is investigating the possibility of using this unique technique to zap the “Eyeball Biters” in Cold Dunk Cave (see Chapuzón .Success in this issue).

Hemos encontrado una novela con el título ZOTZ!
