 ~New York City~  (Game 7)

The Seattle Mariners proved just how dominant they could be, as they blew out the New York Yankees 29-12 today, in game 7 of the opening whiffleball series of the 2002 season. The game had to be stopped in the top of the 6th as it was impossible for the Yankees to come back, due to their 16 run limit. Joe Determan recorded 6 home runs including a grand slam, and Devin Olenick tallied 5 dingers. Sam Dewitt added a home run as well. Joe also led the team in RBI's with 15, as Devin had 7. Sam Dewitt handled the pitching effort for the Mariners, throwing a complete game 17 hitter, and held the Yankees to a mere 12 runs. Devin once again made a spectacular play on defense, throwing out Steve Calderone at first. The Yankees threatened in the 2nd inning, as they loaded the bases, but Matt Struble could not deliver as he hit into a fielders choice. The Yankees loaded the bases again in the 3rd, but this time, it was Dan Zohlmann who could not come through as he popped out to the pitcher. Zohlmann recorded 7 of the teams 12 RBIs on the day. Joe Determan hit the walk-off home run in the top of the 6th, and the Mariners celebrated wildly at the expense of the dismal Yankees.
