* Chapter 16 *

Brad pushed her slightly away to look at her.  Slowly her touched her cheek and used his thumb to wipe away
the tears that fell.  He smiled his half smile that women were crazy about.

" How are you?"

" I'm fine" she answered .

" Liar!" He said and poked her arm playfully, like he had done when they where children.

" I miss our parents. Especially father" she said and walked back to her chair.

" Oh, you mean the old goat that is occupying the best office room in the house?"

" Brad!" she laught and trough her napkin at him.  He  joined her laught but grow serious after a while

" He misses you, Meg.  He doesn't admit it but we all know he dose!"

"  He dose?" Meg sounded so insecure.

Brad laught at his innocent sister.

" Do you think he is going to forget about his favorite child? Never!" Brad squatted down next to her
chair and took her hands into his own.

Meg looked down at her older brother. He was the person in her family that was always there for her. No
matter what.

" I can still hear his spiteful words, Brad" Meg felt the tears again.

" He was shocked. He didn't mean it" Brad tried to reassure her.

" He wanted me to continued the engagement to Tim even if had another women on the side!" Meg was now crying. She longed after Ben strong embrace and soft smoothing caress.

Brad sighed and sat on the chair next to hers. With strong arms he pulled Meg from her seat into his lap.
She rested her head on her brother's shoulder and cried. Slowly he caressed her back and rocked her
lovingly until the only sound he heard was small hicks.

" When?!" Ben looked at Dancing Bear.

The Indian made a sign for the falling sun. Ben took a deep breath and turned to A.J and Mark that was
standing in the garden behind the Deschanel resident.

" Sunset!" was his only reply.

" That gives us about six hours" A.J said while he looked at his pocket watch.

" How many men?" Mark asked

Dancing Bear gave Ben a look that told him troubles.

" Black Bird talk to other amaeko. Yellow Bear no control " The Indian told in English.

Yellow Bear was the chief of the Cheyenne tribe. He was a strong leader and if he was not in control of
Black Bird then they had some real problem. Black Bird was a worrier in his blood and loved to fight. He and
his rebels made some real mess for General Custer in Chewipa Fall.

" What is a amaeko?" Mark asked, even if he didn't have a clue what it meant, he didn't like the word.
Ben just stared at Dancing Bear.

" It means worrier or rebel" Ben finally answered.

" Please tell me that they donīt come from the Arekmori tribe on the East Side of the river" Ben
looked again at Dancing Bear. He just slightly nodded.

" Oh My god" A.J was the one calling to the old mighty. He knew how horrible that tribe could be, and
together with Black Bird's worriers whey would show no mercy.

" Are we talking about that tribe that slathered that family on the East Side last spring because they build
their house on one of their holy places?" Mark asked in a terrified tone.  Ben nodded.

" That means that this is not good, right?" Mark asked.

Suddenly Dancing Bear started to look around for something.  He looked scared and backed into the safe
shadows of the trees.

" Forest have eyes" Dancing Bear said and kept searching the forest.

" They know you are here?" Ben was worried. If Black Bird knew that Dancing Bear was telling him about the
attack. They would kill him.

Dancing Bear got quickly up and made a sign for his white friend to follow him. Ben waited as he led out
his horse from the protective trees and bushes.

"Do they know you are here?" Ben repeated his question, but now in Cheyenne.

" Donīt know" Dancing Bear answered.

" Let me come with you to the camp. In case you got trouble" Ben said and put his hand on his friends
shoulder. Dancing Bear smiled and put his hand on Benīs shoulder, creating a circle.

" No, I have to go alone"

" But." Ben started.

" No, I go alone. You needed here. I have nothing to lose. You have. HER!" Dancing Bear said. He continued:

" Donīt be foolish, white friend! She needs you, and you no good if you dead!"

Ben shook his head.

" I looses a friend if they kill you" Ben said.

"My time. if spirits calls" Dancing Bear said before he swung him self up on the horse.

He sat still for a while and just watched his white friend.

" You keep fighting. You help save many spirits" he finally said.

Ben walked up to Dancing Bear and touched the horse's neck locking eyes with his friend.

" I only wish I could have saved one more spirit" Ben said.

Dancing Bear bowed his head because of Benīs words. Sunshine's beautiful face came back.

" She knows you tried " Dancing Bear said.

" I only wish I could have helped her" Ben said.

" You help her, by helping your woman. Keep her safe.and watch out for the beast!" Dancing Bear said
while he turned his horse around.

Ben thought for a while before shouting: " What beast??"

Dancing Bear turned around in his saddle and smiled.

" Her father, white friend! Her father! Dangerous creature" he said before he turned back and made his
way back to the camp.

Ben stood just stood there for a long time, watching his friend. He had a feeling that he had just had the
last conversation with Dancing Bear..ever.
