Ben And Meg In The Wild West
Chapter 8
Ben kicked the door open to Maria´s chamber at the Saloon. She was with a customer. The poor man that had been in a very embarrassing position, almost had a heart attack and was out of the bed in a red second. He tried to hid his most cherish part with his hat, while Maria pulled her sling together to cover her exposed breasts. She could feel Ben´s freezing cold gaze as he spoke to the man.
" Henry, please leave the room. I’ll make sure you’ll get your money back!"
The man scrambled into his pants and tried to get his shirt back on while trying to tie his boots. A few seconds later he disappeared out of the room, with a promise to him self too never visit "The Lady’s" again.
" So, Mr Evans, to what do I owe this pleasure?" Maria cooed.
" You know why?" Ben had a big trouble to repress his anger. If Maria had been a man he had been dead now. But she is a woman, he told him self.
" If this is about the major, I told you he came to me. No matter what his self good wife have been saying" she said and got out of the bed.
" Why did you tell Miss Cummings all those lies" he was now boiling inside.
She sat down by her dresser and started to freshen up. She looked at him through the mirror.
" I never told her any lies, Mr Evans" she said in a voice that could have belonged to a lovesick teenager. She battered her eyelashes and went back to apply cole around eyes.
" You told her some made up history about me and the women on the saloon" he had to kick himself to not lose control.
He had been so close of losing Meg. When she had told him about Maria´s warning, it had taken him a good hour to convince her that it was lies. She had cried and screamed at him to leave the room. But he couldn’t. He couldn’t loose her. After a lot of begging and convincing, she had collapse into his arms. He hated to see her cry. She had been betrayed once and he would go through fire before it happened again.
" You and I both know that it was not a made up story" she said.
Ben lost it. He walkt up to her and grabbed her arm, dragging her to her feet. He took a painful grip around her shoulders and held her firmly in place.
" Your history was all it was- long forgotten history!!! I’m a changed man" he hissed in her face.
" Once a lady’s man –always a lady’s man!" she said.
" You are crossing land that is a dangerous ground for a lady like yourself" he said in an ice-cold voice.
He let go of her. She rubbed her acing arms, but for some reason she liked that he was hurting her. It made her hot all over. She was not afraid of him.
" You don´t intimated me…Mr Evans" she said
Ben laught softly and shook his head.
" No, nothing intimated you Maria, does it?" he said with dripping sarcasm.
" Maybe I should just let you continue spreading lies around town?" he said and started to walk backwards to the door.
She was confused.
" Because…eventually ….it´s going to backfire on you"
" Oh, really?" she said, after finding her voice again. " What a big strong man you are, threatening a lady "
" No, I’m not threatening a lady, Maria!"
He opened the door and turned around and looked at her from top to toe.
" Because…there is no lady in this room!" he closed the door leaving Maria alone.
She stared dumbly at the door for several seconds, before picking up a vase and trough it on the door. It shaded into thousands of pieces.
" I’ll get you for this Miss Cummings!!!!" she screamed before she sank into the bed and cried like a baby…
