Being that the last movie i actually wanted, and got the chance to see in theaters was the James Bond flick Die Another Day, which was quite incomparable, I was in a state of emergency due to lack of movies. Well, good ones anyway. I scored an outing with a friend the day after valentine's day to go see the highly promoted DareDevil. Now lets get something straight, as a young child i was deprived from the finer things in life.. meaning such as comic-books and video games, so i'm now getting into them. Also, I never read anything about DareDevil, not even a summary, much less the comic-book. After seeing DareDevil's predecessor Spider-Man, and completely falling in love with it, all i could do is pray that this movie would be atlease half as good as it. Lets just say God came through big time.

As a child Matt Murdock (Ben Affleck) seemed to be the loner type, and thats just what he is. He looked up to his father as a mentor, a friend, and everything else, even a mother. Now how would he feel if his father wasn't all that he seemed to be? One of the most horrific scenes one can see is the darkside to someone you love, you look up to, you idolize. And Thats just what Matt saw when he took a short-cut home from school one day. He'd always remember what he saw. because thats the last thing he would ever see... His father beating up a man for the current 'Kingpin'. After looking for a few seconds in disbelief, he ran. Running as fast as he can with the image still stuck in his head, he ran infront of a fork-lift, scaring the operator, making him swurve so he would hit him.. into canisters of toxic waste. The pronged platform slash through the metal, letting the radioactive chemical waste spew out into Matt's eyes, taking his sight immediately. But with the loss of his site, due to the radioactive substance, it made his remaining senses increased, giving him super-human abilities, with his hearing so advanced, the soundwaves create a radar sense in his head. After this, the father and son swore to never give up, never. A mistake which took Matt's father's life after he refused to obey the Kingpin's orders to lose a boxing match unpurpose. After coming down the alley only reaching in time to watch is father pass, Matt swore he would get revenge... he would get Justice. Now as an adult, Matt is now a Lawyer, during the day atlease. But in his off-time, he is DareDevil. Fulfilling his dream of bringing Justice to the world, DareDevil takes out the New York City's surplus population of villains. Matt meets Elektra Notchios (Jennifer Garner), the daughter of a rich greek ambassador, who is also Business parteners with Wilson Fisk (Michael Clarke Duncan), who is also the new Kingpin. The Kingpin calls for Bullseye, a notorious Hit-man, to assasinate ambassador Notchios. Bullseye, not only gets the job done, but uses DareDevil's weapon, and framing him in the eyes of Elecktra. Now Elektra wants revenge for her father's death, and DareDevil must stop not only Bullseye, but also Kingpin.

Never-The-Less This movie was transcendent in all way I can think of. Even the acting, personally I had no clue Affleck could play a not only good, but excellent super hero. Jennifer Garner... PERFECT! Even Big Mike (Michael Clarke Duncan), and Colin Farrell Kicked major butt as Super Villains. The CGI was superb, either they did such a great job, that I couldn't tell most of the CGI from real stunts, or there was far less in this movie than Spider-Man. DareDevil depicts the Dark side of New York City through it's darkness, it sets just the perfect mood for kicking plebian ass at night. Even down to the costumes were magnificent, DareDevil's leather suit, Elektra's leather pants...... also Colin Farrell's Belt with the Bullseye version of ninja stars. How else can I explain this movie other than saying it was absolutely perfect. The only bad thing is I have to wait for the sequel.
