DK High Steppers Twirling group /and Camps was founded in 2001 by Mrs. Doris Keener. She has over 20 years of experience in twirling and is certified as a professional instructor by the United States Twirling Association. She has also instructed the City of Houston Twirling Team. In addition, the DK High Steppers' professional staff and instructors have trained students and sponsored camps at several area schools and universities. Mrs. Keener is also the official trainer for the Houston All Star Band.
In addition, our coaching staff, consists of alumni from University of Arkansas, Jackson State University, Sam Houston State University, Texas Southern University. All of our coaching staff has a variety of talents in baton twirling, cheerleading, color guard, and dance/ drill team experience.
We also have experience in recreational twirling, parade corps, show corps, and featured band twirlers-elementary, junior high, high school, and collegiate field shows, and other competitions: such as solo, strut, two baton, and three baton in twirling, dance teams, camps, clinics, and seminars.
We strive to make each class fun, exciting, and very rewarding.
DK Highsteppers is a innovative program that bridges the gap between after-school and weekends. We offer a variety of programs that serve community members of every age and background. Our programs includes Baton Twirling, Cheer, Dance and Color Guard.
These programs are the cornerstone of our organization and our strategy to bring activities to children and teenagers. We strive to achieve excellence , endurance, dedication, respect, and team work within our students. This helps to build character, integrity, and self-confidence. Our mission is turning young girls of today into young ladies of tomorrow!
