Hotel Ikion on Alonissos
Ikion Hotel offers 4 double rooms, 5 studios for 2-3 people and 4 apartments for 2-4 people. The rooms offer a fridge, air-conditioning, TV, telephone, safe-box, private bath and a balcony with a view of the sea. The studios offer a small, fully equipped kitchen, fridge, a private bath and a balcony with a view of the mountain and pool, A/C, TV, telephone, music and safe-box. They can accommodate 2-3 people and there is a choice of a double or single bed. The apartments offer a choice of two types. Those which offer a separate bedroom with 2 single beds, sitting - dining room and kitchen in a single area with a big veranda, and those which offer a bedroom with a double bed, a sitting room, kitchen and balcony. All the apartments have a private bath with a bathtub, A/C in the bedrooms, TV, telephone, safe-box and fully equipped kitchen. They can accommodate 2-4 people, usually families with children or couples who desire comfort during their stay. The beach is less than 1 or 2 minutes away from Galazio villa. Also within walking distance there are many cafes, taverns and restaurants. The Villa consists of 5 double rooms, 2 triple rooms and 2 (four bed) suites. ANTIPAROS - MIKE'S PLACE STUDIOS AND APARTMENTS
In the evening the lamps on Paros and the small ferry that's sailing between Pounta (on Paros) and Antiparos make it feel like something out of a science-fiction movie. The honesty, sincerety and friendliness of the people that live there move me every time I go back. We found an apartment on a spot right on the beach with no road in front (so only the birds, the sea, the beach and the silence) with an extremely nice lady called Lillian, who rents both studios and rooms at a good price (cheap!!). It's called Mike's Place (0030 22840 61217), and she has the best views in Antparos village. If you are on the ground floor you have a terrace in the garden and if you are on the first floor you have a balcony, and a big table where you can have breakfast, or just a drink. You can also go and sit on the pier in front of the house and be in the middle of the sea. It's very likely I'll be your neighbour, because this is a place I return to every year. :). |
DOLPHIN APARTMENTS, AGIOS GEORGIOS ANTIPAROS
In the south of the island, about 10 kilometers away from the Antiparos Town, in the cozy village of Agios Georgios, you can find the Dolphin Apartments. It is a small complex with 7 apartments that are divided over three buildings. The apartments
offer space for 2 to 5 people depending on the apartment. All apartments have a kitchen, airconditioning, bathroom, umbrella's, parking, and they all have a seaview. Agios Georgios has a beautiful large sandbeach on which you can sometimes find the
rare beachlily. On the other side of the village there are coves with many other small beaches where you can find a beach of your own. Opposite Agios Georgios you can see two islands of which Despotiko is the largest. On this island escavations have
taken place and an ancient sanctuary has been found. From Agios Georgios there are boattrips to the uninhabited island of Despotiko. The village of Agios Georgios offers peace and quiet and there are a couple of very nice beachfront taverna's. There is as
good as no traffic, and the beach leading into the water is shallow, so a perfect and safe place for small children as well.

COSY COMFORT APARTMENT IN KOMMENO CORFU. This is a privately owned Villa situated in the exclusive suburb of Kommeno ten kilometres North of Corfu town. It is secluded and very private . The Villa is modern and beautifully designed. It is set on a slight slope on the side of a hill on top of which is an old Venetian fortress. The garden of the Villa is carefully manicured and there are terraced lawns. Olive trees provide ample shade from the strong summer sun and the sound of the fountain in the fish pond adds to the tranquillity. The Villa has a five by nine meter swimming pool. There is adequate space to park three cars and or motor bikes. The view from the house is quite stunning. To the East across the sea are the mountains of Northern Greece and Albania which can be clearly seen. To the West is the Gouvia marina with its array of sailing masts. And directly south are the two islands of Lazaretto and Vido and in the distance (some ten kilometres away) is Corfu town proudly displaying its two fortresses. Directly in front of the house there is a densely wooded area of Cyprus, olive and pine trees which provides beautiful greenery and a sense of "country".
The apartment is located on the lower level. It has its own access door coming in from the garden. It consists of a lounge/dinning room kitchen area, a small dressing area with ample cupboard space, a large bathroom with bath and shower and a double bedroom with air conditioning. The kitchen is fully equipped with a large refrigerator/freezer, oven/stove, all the necessary crockery and cutlery, pots and pans. The lounge/dining area section has a comfortable two seater couch, TV and utility table and four chairs. The bedroom is large with windows to the garden, a 1.60 meter double bed and two comfortable easy chairs. This is a well furnished and comfortable apartment with beautiful gardens very well located. Transfer time 20 min. from airport. Linen and towels changed twice a week and the apartment cleaned once a week. Laundry on request at an extra cost.

Crete Hotels: Irini Apartments in Agia Pelagia Crete
Agia Pelagia is a cozy little village that has still got that feeling of authentic Greece, even though it is only 22 kilometers away from the capitol Heraklion. It's the perfect spot to have your holidays, away from all the noise and convieniently situated to make trips and excursions to the sights of Crete. Agia Pelagia has a couple of very nice beaches. Irini Apartments is situated in the center of the village, at about 50 meters from the beach. On walking distance you can find everything that you need (shops, bank, pharmacy, bars, restaurants). The complex is two stories high with 6 comfortable and large apartments, big enough for 4-6 persons. One of the apartments has a very large balcony (footballfield size) overlookig the sea. I have seen all of the apartments personally and they would all make me happy. Each apartment has a bedroom with a double bed, a bathroom with shower and toilet, a kitchen, a livingroom with 2 seperate beds and a private balcony. Each apartment has comfortable chairs and a couch, a dining table, a safety deposit box and airconditioning. Irini also has a restaurant downstairs with some of the best food in Crete! It's especially easy if you want to have breakfast and you don't feel like walking a long way before you can have your coffee, but all the food we tried was delicious. Special hotels in Crete: Maison Eriki Apartments, Epanochori in Crete
A place for the people that are looking for peace and quiet, Studios Eriki in the mountain village of Epanochori. The building is surrounded by beautiful wild nature. Epanochori is a village on the way from Chania to the southcoast, and it is not far from the beaches of Sougia and several beaches in and around Paleochora. The studios are 40m2 and they all have a sitting area, a kitchenette and a balcony with a stunning view over the green surroundings. We stayed in an apartment with personality and soul, with carefully chosen curtains, beautiful bath towels and fancy bedsheets. The plates and cups and saucers also told you that the friendly lady that runs the house (her name is Marie Noëlle and she speaks French, English and Dutch) has made an effort to make it a cozy place. There is a kitchen and there is enough equipment in case you want to make a meal in your apartment. We had a coffee machine too. Inside there were two large couches and a table and chairs. Outside there was a large terrace with the most amazing view over the mountains. In the distance on two places, between the mountains, you could see the Libian Sea. There were a nice marble table and 4 comfortable chairs outside on the terrace where you could also have dinner or a drink and look at the beautiful sunsets. On clear days we had the most amazing starlit skies because Epanochori is not a very large village and Maison Eriki is at the edge of it. You can reach these apartments if you drive down south from Chania to Sougia over the Chania - Prases - Epanochori - Sougia road. Maison Eriki can be reached if you turn left just before the Epanochori Village sign and drive to the small white church you see there. It is the creamy-yellowish building just in front of that small church. It is not so expensive and it's a good place to totally relax. You can make nice walks in the area, or you can make the short ride to one of the beaches in the area.

Special hotels in Crete: Villa Filitsa in the Apokoronas
Villa Filitsa consists of four apartments in a beautiful old historic stone house that is situated in Kefalas in the Apokoronas district, close to Georgioupolis and Vamos. The villa is open all year round! The oldest part of the house dates from the Venetian times and other parts have been added to the house through history. It has been carefully and beautifully restored by Canea Properties and the house is a historic monument. It was once used by the Turkish general commander of Crete. There is a common pool with the property. Each apartment has a complete kitchen, and each bathroom (with the exception of one) has a fullsize bathtub. One suite (the Venetian Suite I believe) has a shower, but not just an ordinairy one: it is super-beautiful. I have seen all the bathrooms and all the suites myself on a short tour and they are all special, tasteful and imaculate, with beautiful kitchens, luxury bathrooms and comfortable furniture (lots of them antiques). Every apartment is different and all of them have airconditioning. There is the "arches-room" with 3 Venetian bows that are 5 meters high, with a bed at mezanine level, a sitting corner and a dining area. This apartment is suitable for 4 people. Than there is the "harem-suite" that is 120 m2 divided over three floors. This space was once the place of the harem of the Turkish general. In the upper living space there are twelve windows with a view of the sea. This apartment is suitable for 6 people. The "bakery" is the former kitchen and this apartment is for three people. The last apartment is called the Venetian Suite and this used to be the village pub. This last apartment is suitable for two people. Everything and all the apartments are set up grand and large, and they are beautifully restored while keeping the original details. Villa Filitsa is situated a on the edge of the really old center of the village, a bit on a higher level than the rest of the houses, so the people had to walk "up" to the ruler if they wanted to ask him something. Once you enter the village and drive through it you will likely see the sign pointing to it (like we did), or you can ask people where it is. For us it wasn't very hard to find. I have seen a lot of hotels and apartments and houses during my visits to the Greek islands (there must be well over a 100) but this one, Villa Filitsa, is in my top three of most beautiful places that I have ever seen!! I also loved the whole area, because it was so peaceful, traditional and friendly: the real Greek life as it used to be. Highly recommended! Crete Hotels: CretaSun Apartments in Makrigialos
Makrigialos is a cozy fishermens village in the south of Crete, with nice taverna's and beautiful beaches. Tourist industry is not over-developped here, allthough there is some life in the village. There are no ugly concrete buildings though like you will for instance encounter them in Malia or Chersonissos. In this way the village has maintained its authenticity. In Makrigialos you can find the CretaSun Apartments, which are each 70 m2 large, some with a beautiful view of the harbour, the beach and the mountains. The apartment complex is situated on top of a hill at the edge of the bay. A short walk and some stairs will bring you to the main beach and the taverna's. The accomodation consists of twelve apartments that are built in traditional style, situated in the middle of attractive gardens. Six apartments are downstairs on the ground floor, and offer room to three people, the other 6 apartments are maisonettes for 4 people. All apartments have balconies facing north and south. In the apartments there is airconditioning, a fully equiped kitchen and a safe. Don't forget the great pool that comes with this complex. Analipsi village has been a favorite of mine for years to start my holidays from: it's quiet, the people are friendly and there is a nice beach with wonderful tavernas at the sea. LESBOS ISLAND - SKALA ERESSOS - VILLA LA PASSIONE Lesbos is big enough to tour around for a couple of weeks and visit all the different sights. musea, villages and beaches. When you visit the island it's close to impossible to see it all at once, so you will have a good reason to return on another occasion, to find new spots and visit the old favorite ones. The villages are all quiet different, have a beautiful architecture and there is something for everybody. For shopping you can go to the main village Mytilini, and for the beaches the best areas are in the west and the north of the island. My favorite village is Eressos in the west, situated in a beautiful bay, and with a gorgeous beach (on one part nudism is allowed). In this village you can totally and completely relax, because it is far away from all the noise that you find in thet tourist centers. You will find me with the always good spiritted and helpful Nikolaos, who rents out a house on a very quiet location in the village, close to the beach. In this house there are three large apartments, with a minimum of two bedrooms, and they all have a a very cozy veranda. All you really need to bring is your toothbrush, because the apartments come with all the luxuery and style imaginable: not just airconditioning and satelite tv, but also a toaster, a coffee machine and a completely utelized kitchen. You just wish you permanently "lived" there, and you quietly dream away and think it's your own house ;). Nikolaos doesn't care if you come alone, as a couple or with a whole group, and the prices are so good, there is no need to go anywhere else, because starting at 60 euro (in 2005) you already have a complete house that can accommodate 5 people. Go there!! |

Situated in the heart of the village of Molyvos (also known as Mythimna) is Captains View, a beautifully restored stone cottage retaining Molyvos tradition and with an eye for both Greek style and luxurious detail. It is a couple of minutes from the market, the bakery and a well stocked grocery. Imagine newly baked bread, croissants or baguettes and fresh fruit and yoghurt and local honey for breakfast on the balcony with a beautiful panorama of the bay of Molyvos, with its yachts, small colourful boats, distant islands and mountains, and just below, the tiles of the old village roofs. The house is sheltered with cool corners and the a private balcony to work on that sun tan, or just watch the sun set. There's full air conditioning, so if the weather gets too hot you can escape to indoor comfort. Captains View is a and relaxing house with plenty of space. It is ideal for a family with three or four children or two couples sharing. It has two double bedrooms downstairs, each with en-suite bathroom - one has a big spa bath, the other a shower. Built-in cupboards provide plenty of drawers and hanging space for clothes. The settee in the living room upstairs can be folded out to provide additional sleeping accommodation, and above the kitchen and dining area is an attic den for siestas, reading and TV watching. The sitting area in this den can also convert to provide still more sleeping accommodation. The spacious and well-equipped kitchen has a full sized cooker, a microwave oven, a spacious fridge/freezer and a dishwasher. There is plenty of crockery, cutlery and all the kitchen utensils required for self-catering. A small utility room houses an automatic washing machine. In the living area adjacent to the kitchen there?s an eight place traditional wooden dining table. Captains View can accommodate 6 people. The two who sleep in the loft must be youngish as one can not stand up right and must go down stairs to the bathroom. Kyparisis Beach Houses in Mystegna on Lesbos island
Few places in Greece, the Aegean, or even Lesvos, have this kind of view, the tiny picturesque fishing harbour to the left, and then across the straits of Toukmakia to the purple hills of Asia Minor. Just open the door and walk straight out on to the beach at magical Skala Mystegna. And what a beach it is - the beautiful white pebbles, truly crystal blue waters of the Aegean, without the crowds. The Kyparissis Beach houses (two to choose from) offer a special kind of seclusion - it's as if the beach is your own. These stylish new two storey villa-apartments have a touch of luxury and have been decorated with care. The properties are accessed directly from the unspoilt pebble beach. Their main entrances lead into a spacious open plan living/dinning area, tastefully decorated in a simplistic Hellenic style with a smooth cool stone floor. Double balcony doors open onto a terrace, giving direct access onto the beach. The fireplaces take care of any early/late/out of season chills and air conditioning cools the summer heat. Adjoining is the kitchen where all 21st Century kitchen conveniences (oven, microwave, etc.) are carefully placed so as not to detract from the overall traditional simplicity of the design. They have everything you require for self-catering and more, and that wonderful view of the Aegean just beyond the window sill. Each house has two stylish designed bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and their own air conditioning units. One bedroom has a spacious double bed and the other has twin beds that can be pushed together if needed. All bedrooms have their own balcony doors from which one can view that fabulous fabulous view. Iannis is a funny man who put together a great website about Lesbos island and his small, friendly hotel that is situated 11km from the picturesque town of Mytilini (buses every half hour), and 20km from the airport. It's called the Votsala Hotel and it's on a quiet spot looking over the water in the non touristic village of Pyrgi Thermi. The hotel consists of 4 detached buildings in 8 acres of garden, which runs down to the sea: 3 buildings with rooms, one for reception / restaurant / interior and open-air bar, exclusively for the guests. Iannis has made sure that his guests get the possibility to relax, with the small beach nearby, and so his hotel has no aircionditioning, no tv in the rooms, no disco, no Greek nights. Instead you can read a book or enjoy the scenery and the peace and quirt of the place.Prices at the Votsala Hotel start around 50 euro a night.

LESBOS ISLAND - PETRA BEACH - EVRIDIKI STUDIOS Evridiki Studios is a family run business situated in a quiet garden square in the heart of the village of Petra. The studios are surrounded by a native garden with old fruit-trees and vegetables. The beach is across the road, just 50 m away from us and the shopping area in the center of the village it is only 300 m. The studios (suitable for 2, 3 & 4 persons) are 18-27 square meters in size. There are equipped with air-conditioning, en-suite WC with hand-basin and shower, a small kitchen with refrigerator, sink, hot plate and dishes, hair-dryer. All studios have a balcony or a terrace with stunning views. There is a bus twice a day in winter and four times a day in summer, going from Petra to Kalloni, Molivos (Mithymna) and the island's capital Mytilene. There is also a municipality bus from Petra to the neighboring villages: Lafiona, Skoutaros, Anaxos and Stipsi. Cars, bicycles, motorbikes and scooters are in the area for hire. Also there are taxi's available. If you like, we can pick you up from the airport and drive you to your studio. This taxi service costs app. 40 EURO. MYKONOS, Hotel Nazos is one of the nicest hotels in Mykonos town. It's is a real family hotel, with 14 rooms, yet with all the facilities you can ask for. If you like a bit more luxurious and modernly decorated, and you prefer a personal approach, than this small, friendly and inexpensive hotel in Mykonos Town is for you. The hotel is conveniently situated (top location!), close to the harbour and only 100 meters from the main bus station at Fabrika square. The views are awesome!! All rooms have bath/shower and toilet, a refridgerator, a minibar, tv, airconditioning, internet access, a hairdryer and a private balcony with a panoramic view.... In the hotel there is a lounge, a snackbar, and there's space for your car. There's 24 hours a day service. I always make reservations here myself. A place I can truly recommend! The classy and modern Rania Apartment Complex is located in a peaceful and beautiful garden in the heart of Mykonos Chora, the lovely capital town of Mykonos, in the Petasos region, close to the entertainment venues, shops and sandy beaches of the island. Ikaros is a family hotel which offers accommodation all year. It is situated in a quiet corner near the city of Naxos (800m) and very close to the saint George beach (300m). Moreover, it is easily accessible from the airport, being only 1,5 km away from it. This unique location enables our guests to combine entertainment along with relaxation. Ikaros has been designed to satisfy the needs of its guests, you can take your coffee with a view of our beautiful garden or take a refreshing swim in our pool. All our studios have a spacious bathroom, telephone, television, radio, fully equipped kitchen, fridge, air-condition, safety box and a big balcony. Ikaro's personnel is always trying to make our guest's stay as comfortable as possible. And I can say this from my own experience: they are very friendly and helpful indeed! The studios are wihin easy walking distance from the village center, and out of the noise of the village itself. The lovers of beaches will not be disappointed in Naxos. The coast opposite the island of Paros can best be described as one big playground with sand :). The beaches here are without pebbles and stones and so they are just beautiful, wide and long sandbeaches. We stayed overnight at the Faros Hotel, and during the day we decided to just relax and be lazy on the beach in front of the complex. It is a recommendable place with nice rooms, a swimming pool and in the evening there is a beautiful sunset to look at. The hotel is family operated. The complex is small, but has all the luxuery. There are studios and apartments and they all have a little kitchen, a fridge, airco, satelite tv, and most of the rooms have a balcony or a veranda with a seaview. It is situated in a a cedarforrest on a 150 meters distance of the beach, nica and quiet. At the pool you can get something to drink or you can enjoy a breakfast. In short; not bad at all :)! It's also not really expensive. I think we payed something like 40 euro. Below there are some more pictures of the Faros Hotel and of the beach. Some of the pictures were send to me because after a close-up of a flower I forgot to put my camera back in the normal position, making the whole row after that blurry :( and unsharp. Faros is a nice small hotel with a bit of luxuery for people that like to relax. Next to it is the family run restaurant with delicious home made dishes. My Hotel: the Ethrion Hotel in Ermoupolis
I don't think anything van beat the location and the value you get for your money of the hotel where I stayed. The Ethrion Hotel in Ermoupolis has beautiful views, beautiful and large rooms and it's an overall friendly run family type of hotel. It's situated about 100 meters off the harbour and the main square, up the hill, on a quiet spot. All the studios and rooms have either a terrace or a balcony and there is a beautiful garden with grapes that comes with this charming hotel, a spot where you can enjoy your glass of Greek wine or an ouzo :)! For the ones that love to check their emails while they are travelling: there is free internet access and if you bring your laptop you can even check your mailbox on that because there is a wifi hotspot with a wireless connection. If you want to discover this interesting town than this would be an ideal place to stay at. Ermoupolis has lots to offer and to be discovered. It's an interesting town, and quite different from other Cycladic towns in a good way. From Ermoupolis it's also easy to explore the rest of the island, because all the busses to the different parts of the island, and the beaches, depart from here (if you don't want to rent a car). Ethrion is a quiet spot where you can relax, to see all the life in the city from your balcony, or pretend you are on a deserted island when you are in the garden. It's really awesome. |

TINOS - ANNA'S ROOMS
Anna's Rooms consists of 6 bungalows out of town towards Stavros Bay. You'll enter a big, warm decorated garden with space enough for everybody. A bit further down you'll find a small pebble beach, and just along the road lies the old port of Tinos, Stavros, a good bay for swimming or relaxing. Every apartment has a kitchen, a small hall with wardrobes, a bathroom with shower and toilet and a bedroom, airco and tv, some of the apartments have a seaview. There is a shade under the trees when it gets too warm, deckchairs for relaxation and for children swings and trampolines. The apartments cater for up to 4 people. Any other possibilities for example children's beds can be arranged without any problem. |

ZAKYNTHOS - PORTA DEL MAR TRADITIONAL HOUSES AND APPARTMENTS We have visited the beautiful island od Zakynthos (Zante) a couple of times, and we have tried a couple of hotels in different locations on the island. Our most special place was without any doubt "Porta del Mar" just outside Zakynthos town (about 12 km) on the north eastcoast of the island. It is an oases of peace and luxuery. The traditional wooden houses that can be rented from the Greek Tasos are actually right on the beach. It's quiet and very pretty, and on a clear day you can get a glimpse of the island of Kefalonia oposite the beach. It's a small paradise and a spot to totally relax. If you open the door the beach is immediately at your feet. Al you need to do is put down a towel and you can start to enjoy your day. In the evenings when you lay on your bed you can hear the waves of the sea. Also on the inside the houses are big and very tastefully decorated, and you always have a balcony or a veranda with a seaview. But watch out: if you bend over and fall you end up in the water ;). Porta del Mar is moderately priced, starting at 60 euro a house a day in low season (2005, 4 people). De owner Tasos is a helpful and friendly guy, and does everything to try and make the stay of his guests as comfortable as possible. There are sunbeds that you can use on your veranda or that you can take to the private beach in front of the complex.
