    The Quarter Horse

    The Quarter Horse was named after the quarter mile race in the 17th century. The quarter horse has extremely fast starts and has excellent speed over small distances. They're an ideal ranch horse. And most of them are found in the United States.

    ORIGIN: USA.

    HEIGHT: 15-16h.h.

    COLOUR: Mostly Chestnut, but any solid colour.

    PHYSIQUE: Muscular, large build, and very attractive.

    CHARACTER: Sensible, nimble, active and intelligent.

    PRINCIPAL USES: Riding, ranchwork, racing and rodeos.

    QUARTER HORSE FACTS: -The founder of the quarter horse was an English Thoroughbred Janus, he was kept in Virginia between 1756 and 1780. -Quarter horses still race in Quarter mile events, such as the All-American Futurity.
