PETER GRIFFITHS
TO STOKE CITY
Griffiths joined Bideford from North Devon Premier League club Pilton Centre and with only two years with us he gets a trial at Stoke City in November 1980. Griffiths mad a instant impression with Stoke, Stoke where quick to move for Griffiths who back then worked as a self-employed panel-beater. Griffiths signed for Stoke City who were in the old first division for a fee of 15,000 and on his second game for his new club he scored his first goal in front of the Match of the day camera's. After watching that match Everton put a 150,000 offer in for Griffiths which was 10times the fee Stoke paid for him only a few weeks previous. Stoke City turned the offer down for Peter Griffiths and he continued to play for Stoke City
