It is important that you check your tires' air pressure is important in tire maintainance. You should check the pressure frequently, because tires lose pressure everyday. Tires can lose one or two pounds of air per month in cool weather, and even more than that in warm weather. So it's crucial that you check air pressure frequently.

When you go to check your tires' air pressure, be sure you have an accurate gauge. Regardless to popular belief, you cannot check air pressure just by looking at the tire and judging the sidewall appearance. Air meters at service stations can also be inaccurate because they are used so much, and not always correctly.

When you go check the air pressure, make sure the tires are cold. Meaning that the vehicle has not yet been driven one mile. If you have to drive more than one mile, check and record the air pressure in all tires before you leave. Then once you arrive at the car dealer, check and record again. Then compare the 2 different air pressures that you got. Then inflate the tirse with low pressure to a level that is equal the the reccomended cold pressure, and all the difference at the higher temperature.

[From discounttire.com]"In this example, add 3 psi in the right rear tire to match the other rear tire's warm reading. When the tire returns to cold pressure, it should end up at the recommended pressure."
