Devotions
On this page I would like to share with you things I have found in magazines, devotionals or things I have just come across in my daily readings. I hope they may speak to you. Praise Him for He continues to speak to us where ever we happen to be!
" For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."..( Jeremiah 29:11)
I went and saw Double Jeopardy last night and it was a great movie! But even greater was the fellowship I shared with my friend who went with me. She told me how in her previous church so many untrue things were being taught...too many to name here...but, that I had been an example to her of how great a church attendance could be.
I never consciously made a point to witness to her as I thought all was well in her church and life. But there were times when she would be upset and really searching and I would just talk to her and tell her how important she was to me, her family and most especially to God. Seems like these little sessions really spoke to her and gave her the courage to search the Word for herself and break away from the church she was attending.
She visited my church ( I always talked about how the love of God was so evident there and how much I loved the people and services) and she said she knew as soon as she walked thru the door that THIS place was a house of God. She saw friends she had lost track of, she felt the presence of the Lord stronger than she had ever felt before, she had a renewal of faith and love so long missing in her life ...oh I could go on and on ! We serve an amazing God!
The point I am trying to make ...heheheh...is this. God uses us to reach people and most of the time it is not in fire and brimstone it is in a small word of encouragement or praise. I had no idea my friend was so confused and hurting, but, God did and He sent her to me and to others that could minister to her in ways she was not getting. And now Praise His Holy Name ! She is excited about life and the Lord again! On fire in her new found freedom that only our Lord and Savior can provide and I was indeed humbled that God would/could use me in such a way because you see I too was in need of such a renewal. I had feelings of unworthiness and ineffectiveness in sharing the Word of God, but He who is everwatchful took care of us both and what we thought was just an ordinary girls night out was transformed into a night of praising His name and drawing closer to Him!!!! Oh how mighty is our Lord!!
Praise His Holy Name!
