CLAMP Fanfiction Mailing List

A Brief Introduction:

Hello! Welcome to the CLAMP Fanfiction Mailing List page (and a drab page at that but I'm gonna work on improving this site.) ^_^ My name is Tin Mandigma, list owner. I've been an avid CLAMP fan for a couple of years now and am always on the hunt for CLAMP fanfiction. There is a CLAMP mailing list in existence but no Fanfic ML as far as I know ^_^ So I thought, hey why not set up a ML and gather all the CLAMP fanfics in one place? I hope this ML could provide some sort of, uh, territory for CLAMP fanfic fanatics like me to discuss the art and craft of writing CLAMP-based stories. While CLAMP does not stick to one genre in terms of story type, nearly all of their works fall under the umbrella of shoujo manga. What interests me most is how they managed to create a unified 'feel' for their stories (in terms of rationale, style and technique in both their art and writing) while maintaining highly-diversified and, at times, divergent plots, characters and settings. One of the main reasons why I decided to start this list is to see how various 'fic authors streamline their own particular preferences and blend in with (or perhaps stand out from) the 'general' structure of CLAMP's works, to provide a melting pot of sorts. Whew, I'm getting prolific here ^^;;

Anyway...

Before we proceed, below is a basic run-down of CLAMP's published anime and manga works. I took the liberty of providing links to general info sites per series so as to give you an idea of what to expect overall:

*I'm aware that I missed other titles ^^;; but I think the list above contains the most popular of CLAMP's works and thus those most 'prone' to fanfiction. Take your pick ^_~

However, before you join, there are some rules which you need to be aware of. Yeah, I know, rules suck but, hey, we all need some sort of order in our lives, in the fanfiction world (where anything and everything can happen) most especially. Here's a sampling of what you need to know in case you should join the CLAMP Fanfic ML:

1. This list is concerned with the posting, discussion and beta reading of fanfiction based on the various works of CLAMP (whether anime or manga) only. As much as possible, please avoid posts dealing with series info, seiyuus, CLAMP artwork, personal biographies (introductions to the list are an exception, of course) ^^; etc.
2. No flaming or spamming is allowed. Constructive criticism (as in pointing out spelling mistakes, grams, plot inconsistencies, etc.), sure, but no "author attacks" please. Doing so would mean removal from the list without prior notice. If you really can't keep your irritation, anger, manic rage to yourself, however, then just please e-mail the object of your, er, attention privately. The list would prefer to stay out of the line of fire.
3. If you want to post lemon or yaoi 'fics, then please label them accordingly. Also, it is recommended (though not requisite) that you denote the particular CLAMP series on which you are basing your story in your subject heading so as to give other members some leeway in terms of choice of reading material.
4. No attachments please, in either .doc or .txt formats. Cutting and pasting the text on the message itself would do just fine, especially if you are working with a text editor.
5. The list is unmoderated and unrestricted so it's basically a free-for-all kinda thingie as long as potential members agree to and promise to comply with the rules of the ML.

   WARNING: Some of the material on this list may be considered potentially offensive to conservative readers since most CLAMP series (like X, Tokyo Babylon, RG Veda) depict shoujo ai (girl/girl relationships) and shounen ai (boy/boy relatioinships) and, naturally enough, fanfics which follow these series pick up on the above aspects. That is why this ML is considered appropriate for people aged 17 and above only. However, if you are below 17 and would still like to join, you are free to do so as long as you keep the above warning in mind.

   Any member could invite other people to the list through theauspices of ONElist's Member Center. Tin exists to lay down the ground rules and do the bureaucratic stuff involved with running this list effectively.
   

6. The list has a digest version available to those who would prefer to receive the mail for a particular date collectively (note: this saves space on your mailbox.) If you would like to subscribe to the digest version only, then please proceed to the USER CENTER of ONElist and log in using your e-mail address and password. You can choose and mark your preferences in that way.
