The Extremely Unofficial Wallflowers Homepage

HEY EVERYONE!
It's Britt here! I'm sure a lot of you regular visitors have noticed the fact that this page hasn't been updated in a while. Well, let me explain...WAY back in the spring, my computer's modem got blown out by lightning. I FINALLY had time to get it fixed a few weekends ago. So that's why I haven't updated in a while. And now I've decided this page is pretty much a lost cause. I had a TON of e-mails when I finally got back online, and I don't have time to sit here and add all that new stuff to my page. And the way I feel about it, if you're only gonna half-ass something, you shouldn't do it at all. So to make a long story short, no more updates. But you are welcome to sign the guestbook, post on the message board, use the chatroom, etc. But I won't be doing anymore work on the page myself. But hey, it was fun while it lasted. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to e-mail stuff to Jessie & me. Without your input, this page would've sucked. So long for now!
Peace, love, and Wallflowers forever...
Britt

"There are all different kinds of levels of it. When you go all the way and turn yourself inside out, you discover things. You write lines that you know are true, and then you realize why they're true."

****Billboard Music Video Awards News****

The 1997 Billboard Video Music Awards were held on Saturday, November 22, 1997. As you all know, The Wallflowers were nominated for the FAN.tastic Award, an award in which fans determine the winner. Unfortunately, it was like the '97 MTV Video Music Awards all over again--The Spice Girls (aka The Spice SLUTS) took home the award for their video Say You'll Be There

1997 VH1 Fashion Awards

NO...
Jakob didn't win the award for Most Fashionable or Most Stylish or Best Dressed Artist or whatever the heck that award was called. The winner was Beck.

Bummin' Over The '97 VMA'S...

LET'S FACE IT...it was not exactly a good night for Wallflowers fans. Unfortunately, The Wallflowers went 0 for 4 at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards, held on September 4th at New York City's Radio City Music Hall. Below is a list of the winners from the categories in which The Wallflowers were nominated:

In an interview with MTV's Serena Altschul held prior to the awards ceremony, Jakob mentioned that the Viewer's Choice Award was the one that meant the most to him (although he jokingly stated that the Best Editing Award was a biggie too). Why anyone would vote for that freaky Prodigy video over The Wallflowers' One Headlight is WAY beyond me...maybe Prodigy had people "stuffing the ballot" for them. Anyway, The Wallflowers ended up near the bottom of the pack, finishing with around 13% of the vote (I think they tied with The Spice Sluts...I mean, GIRLS), while Prodigy carried 29%. I voted for The Wallflowers AT LEAST 10 times a day...and I spent one Sunday afternoon using a quicker method that was e-mailed to me. It involved sending e-mails to this "getweb" server thing (I have no idea what that is) rather than logging on to MTV's website. Using this method, a voter could submit 5 votes at once instead of just one at a time. After I used up my limit, I forwarded a copy of the e-mail to everyone who left an e-mail address in my guestbook. (Of course I have no idea if the people I forwarded it to actually did it) I don't know if that was "legal" or not, but I guess it doesn't matter because they lost anyway.

The only bright spot of the evening was when The Wallflowers took the stage and performed One Headlight with a special "cameo" from Bruce Springsteen. (Don't you wonder exactly how many times they've played that this year?) They ROCKED, as usual...although I do have to admit that I would've rather seen Jakob sing the whole song. But it was still a cool idea.

Did you somehow miss out on the great article about Jakob from the July issue of Rolling Stone?
