    David sidelined with wrist injury

  • Mike Bordin to fill in for remaining US dates; Band to reschedule five shows

    Rescheduled Shows
Tues 3/21 Madison, WI Dane County Arena
Fri 4/21 Minneapolis, MN Target Center
Sat 4/22 Moline, IL Mark Of The Quads

In the middle of Korn's show in Fargo, ND last Friday, March 10, drummer David Silveria experienced complete failure of the ability to use his wrist. The exact cause of the weakness is undetermined. Several tests have been scheduled this week to discover the exact cause of David's ailment. The condition is part of a pre-existing problem that stems back to Korn canceling the last two shows of the Korn/Rob Zombie tour last year.

Korn has decided to continue the tour, with Mike Bordin (from Faith No More and recently from Ozzy Osbourne's band) finishing out the remainder of the U.S. dates. Mike is currently in rehearsal with the band.

Korn is scheduled to resume their tour this Thursday, March 16 in Chicago (Allstate Arena) and will reschedule the postponed shows as indicated. Both Korn and Silveria remain confident of the drummer's return for their upcoming European tour starting May 10.

The March 10 Fargo, ND show is expected to be rescheduled soon.

Korn enter Billboard album chart at #1 with "Issues" sales of 573,785

  • Korn, one of rock's most explosive and defining bands, enter the Billboard "Top 200 Albums" chart at #1 next week with their new CD Issues. Topping sales of 573,785, this marks the second time the band have entered the chart at #1--the first was with their triple platinum FOLLOW THE LEADER in August of 1998, only 15 months ago.

This excitement concludes a week of high visibility for Korn which culminated with Korn's only U.S. in-store appearance at Tower Records/Northridge (in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley) on November 21. Over 2,000 fans came out for this special event which featured bagpipe players and circus performers. In order to accommodate all in attendance, the band -- Jonathan (vocals, bagpipes), Munky (guitars), Head (guitars), Fieldy (bass), David (drums)--signed CDs and met with fans for seven hours.

The in-store was hosted by Issues cover art contest winner Alfredo Carlos, who was presented with a plaque from the band in honor of his entry, which was chosen from over 20,000 fan submissions to appear on the cover of Issues. As part of the contest, the Southern California-based Alfredo also received a $10,000 prize and appeared with the band on MTV's "Total Request Live." In addition, three additional finalists were chosen for limited edition covers of the album.

On the other side of the country, Korn performed a landmark sold-out show at The Apollo Theatre in Harlem on the eve of Issues' November 16 release. At a press conference the following day, the band announced a nine-week U.S. tour set to kick off in mid-February.

At the sold-out Apollo show -- which marked the first-ever rock concert at this historic venue -- Korn world premiered Issues in its entirety and in sequence with a live global broadcast via radio, satellite and the Internet. The band were joined onstage by the Pipes & Drums of the NYPD Emerald Society and a choir, conducted by acclaimed musical director Richard Gibbs (who has composed music for films such as "Dr. Doolittle" and "Say Anything" and has worked with Robert Palmer, Chaka Khan and Aretha Franklin). The set list of course included the current single, "Falling Away From Me," which is currently bulleted at #11 in its third week on the Billboard Modern Rock chart and holds the #15 spot on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart.

Of the group's intense live performance, Devin Gordon of Newsweek noted: "...for one blistering, bizarre hour at the Apollo, rock and roll ruled the roost."

In other news, Korn's video for "Freak On A Leash" (from FOLLOW THE LEADER) recently received the award for "Best Hard Rock Clip" at the Billboard Music Video Awards. This follows the two MTV Video Music Awards "Freak On A Leash" received, including "Best Rock Video."

Stay tuned for tour dates to be announced soon...

    November 5, 1999

  • Never rely on KORN to do anything even remotely conventional. To mark the arrival of their new album ISSUES, KORN will be making the release an unforgettable global event.

KORN--JONATHAN, MUNKY, HEAD, FIELDY and DAVID--will perform ISSUES in its entirety and in sequence on November 15 (the eve of the album's release) at Harlem's Apollo Theatre. Even more extraordinary, a choir as well as the Pipes & Drums of the Police Department of the City of New York Emerald Society will provide additional instrumentation (although neither are featured on the album). Both the choir and back-up musicians will be conducted by acclaimed musical director Richard Gibbs (who has composed music for films such as "Dr. Dolittle" and "Say Anything" and has worked with Robert Palmer, Chaka Khan and Aretha Franklin).

The entire event will be broadcast live globally on radio and the Internet (at www.korn.com) starting at 10:00 PM Eastern/7:00 PM Pacific. The performance will also be rebroadcast at 9:00 PM Pacific.

The audience at the Apollo Theatre will be predominantly made up of radio contest winners who will be chosen from around the world. These winners will be selected by the radio stations which will be broadcasting the event live in its entirety. A limited number of tickets will be available for purchase.

Fans got a special early taste of ISSUES when the album's first single, "Falling Away From Me," was featured on the first new episode of the fall season of television's most irreverent show, "South Park."

The band also offered the song as an unsecured MP3 file as a gift to their fans this past weekend.

    November 3, 1999

  • On Monday November 15th at 10pm EST (7pm PST) Korn will be presenting their new album "Issues" live from the Apollo in New York via radio and online broadcast.

If your local radio station isn't covering this event, call them now and tell them you want to hear this broadcast!

    Stay tuned for more details...

    October 29, 1999

  • Hey Fukkers! Let’s start a fukkin’ chain email!!

Our new record, Issues, will hit the stores on November 16th. We busted our asses on this record and we think this is the best shit we’ve ever done!

We’re so psyched about it that we wanted to give all you guys, the TRUE Korn fans -- a gift from us. We want you to have the first single from Issues, "Falling Away From Me" in an unprotected, no time-out MP3 file. The attorneys and the corporate establishment, who are so afraid of the Internet, said "no way."

Please listen to the single. If you like it, send this email it to at least 10 friends and music fans and ask each of them to do the same. It’s a fuckin’ musical chain letter! People turning people on to great music.

As many of you already know, we are very concerned about doing whatever we can to combat child abuse. When you go to download the song, sign our guestbook. For each person who does this, Korn and ARTISTdirect.com will donate $.25 to Children of the Night and Childhelp USA, two organizations that do a great job keeping kids off the street.

Thanks again for everything you have done for us. Our fans are the reason we continue to make music. Korn fans rule!

    October 15, 1999

  • Thanks to all who showed interest in being on MTV when Korn comes to town.

Unfortunately, we had a limited number of spots so they went rather quickly. No need to worry though as everyone can tune into MTV on November 5th at 5pm and see the unveiling of the Kover Kontest as well as a lot of other cool stuff. Thanks again!

    October 13, 1999

  • Hey Fukkers!

We got so many great submissions for the Kover Kontest! The response from you guys (over 25,000 pieces before the deadline) was completely overwhelming! Because Korn fans are so awesome, and we got so much PHAT art, we had to recognize more than just one person.

Out of the thousands we got there were hundreds of great designs, but four super-outstanding ones. Because we think it important to give props to all four of those people, we decided to make four covers. Not forever, just the beginning. After that the grand prize winner's cover will be the only one, and the other three will be inside. Sometimes it's hard to pick just one when there are so many cool ones, and this was one of the ways we wanted to show our love and respect for the great effort. We also took all of the entries that didn't win (but were still fuckin' phat) and are putting them up in our studio so that we can always be reminded of how awesome our fans are! Keep your eyes open, 'cause you may see yours on MTV or in photos we take there!!

You are all the best! Peace.
Fieldy, David, Jonathan, Munky and Head

  • Look for rock's explosive KORN to premiere "Falling Away From Me"--the first single from their much-anticipated fourth album, ISSUES, due out November 16 on Immortal/Epic Records--on the first new episode of the fall season of television's most irreverent and controversial show, "South Park." Fans of both KORN and "South Park" will no doubt consider this to be a perfectly subversive match.

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, October 27 at 10:00 PM ET/PT. That's when Comedy Central will air the hotly-tipped Halloween episode of "South Park" featuring KORN, who'll be animated by the show's creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and will be doing their own voices. Not only will "Falling Away From Me" make its grand debut on the show, the band--JONATHAN, MUNKY, HEAD, FIELDY, DAVID--will be a major part of the episode's storyline. Details about this are being kept hush-hush until the show airs, but one could only imagine what outrageous things will emerge from Trey Parker, Matt Stone and KORN.

Meanwhile, KORN were last seen showing up to play select dates on the in-progress "Family Values Tour" along with Limp Bizkit, Filter, The Crystal Method and Staind. This is the second annual outing for the tour that was master-minded by KORN, their management company The Firm and Metropolitan Entertainment.
