The Old Weathered Barn

Dan Gibson, author
Jan. 7, 2003

The old, weathered barn leaning in the wind
It is not in use as it was way back then
It was a fine, strong structure in its day
Shelter for the animals and the loft filled with hay

Cows were milked and the animals fed
Smell of fresh straw made for a comfortable bed
The loft a special place for children to play
Dream their dreams on a rainny day

The era of the barn has almost come to an end
Many have fallen with the fury of the wind
The old barn served its purpose in days long past
Many fond memories of long ago still linger and last
