SNAP!/Turbo B. Biography
DURRON BUTLER of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, was initially a drummer with a heavy metal band in his hometown. Later he joined the army and was posted to Germany where he became a bomb disposal expert. While there he teamed up with Rico Sparx and Moses P. for several musical projects.

After his discharge he returned to the USA but went back to Germany to tour with THE FAT BOYS. Germany-based producers Benito Benites (b. Michael Munzing) and John Garrett Virgo III (b. Luca Anzilotti), operating under their aforementioned pseudonyms, had put together a project that Turbo B. historically named; SNAP!, after a function on a sequencing program.

They then recorded a song called "The Power" which was built from samples of New York rapper Chill Rob G (Robert Frazier's) "Let The Rhythm Flow." They added the powerful female backing vocals of PENNY FORD, among others. JACKIE HARRIS (b. Jacqueline Arlissa Harris, Pittsburgh, USA) was also credited for providing "guide" vocals. The record was first released on the Wild Pitch Records label in America with the credit "SNAP featuring Chill Rob G." However, after the first 30,000 sales, problems with Chill began to manifest themselves and they sought a replacement. They then wisely chose Butler, who now renamed himself Turbo B.

He had already recorded for Logic as back-up rapper for Moses P. Chill was allowed to release his own version of "The Power" in America however around the rest of the world, a new version, featuring Turbo B's electrifying lyrical meltdown, topped the charts. In fact, "The Power" now sits in The Guinness Book of World Records as 'The Biggest Selling Single Of All Time'. But it was only the beginning...

Although Benites and Garrett utilized Turbo B as the public face of SNAP!, as the producers, they deliberately remained shadowy figures back in their Frankfurt studio, which was now a hugely impressive complex. Along with Turbo B. as the front man and a myriad of guest female vocalists, they continued to score colossal international hits with "Oops Up", "Cult Of Snap", "Mary Had A Little Boy,", "The Color Of Love," and eventually "Rhythm Is A Dancer" went on to the biggest selling UK single of 1992). Other SNAP! million selling hits followed in recent years like "Exterminate" and "Do You See The Light? (Looking For)".

From that moment on up until today, Turbo B. has firmly established himself as one of the most celebrated artists in global Pop/Dance music history, criss crossing cities, countries & continents on a weekly basis, like a nonstop touring machine, bringing the SNAP! music and message to the ecstatic masses in sold out concerts around the world. Not only did he tour as a solo entity, but he's also toured and/or shared stages with the likes of luminaries like NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK, MARKY MARK & THE FUNKY BUNCH, VANILLA ICE, MC HAMMER, KRISS KROSS, CHAKA KHAN & was even the opening act for MICHAEL JACKSON's "Dangerous Tour" at the personal request of 'The King Of Pop' himself. His TV appearances include, but are not limited to the likes of SOUL TRAIN, TOP OF THE POPS, MTV, BIG BREAK and SHOWTIME AT THE APOLLO, just to name a few.

When the 90's came to a close and all of the smoke had cleared and the dust settled, SNAP! not only held a place in The Guinness Book of World Records, but in musical history, they are unparalleled as 'The Biggest Selling Group in BMG History', having sold in excess of 57 million albums worldwide, 200 gold & platinum award honors, 80 #1 chartings globally and American Music Award & Billboard Music Award nominations; certifiably and indisputably making Turbo B. the biggest selling and most $uccessful Rapper in recorded music history (having sold more records than EMINEM, 50-CENT, VANILLA ICE and MC HAMMER, combined)!!!!!!!

In 2003, Turbo B. returned to the top of the international Pop, Club and Dance music charts with "The Power of Bhangra 2003" and "Rhythm Is A Dancer 2003". JIM CAREY insisted that "The Power" be his characters theme song when he played a man vested with God's powers in 2003's biggest blockbuster summer hit; "BRUCE ALMIGHTY". His Hip-Rock-Dance fusion track of searing funk (The Fury") can be heard in the soundtrack of 2003s "House Of The Dead" both during the 7(+) minute zombie fight / action sequence at the center of the film and at the top of the end credits. He has a new 2003 single out with Master Blaster over in Germany on SONY, and he also can be seen live in concert both as a solo entity and as one of the CO-headliners of SWEATFEST WORLD TOUR 2004 with his colleagues BARBARA TUCKER & C&C MUSIC FACTORY and WANDA DEE & THE KLF (of whom he's also recording a compilation album with them of the same 'Sweatfest' name); in addition to completing his forthcoming solo album.

As a world class recording artist and entertainer, his live shows and personal appearances have been known to cause pandemonium as his performance legend has reconfirmed that not only are his rapping/freestyle skills second to none, but he is (hands down) the worlds greatest human beat box, as his awe-inspiring skills on the mic have left audiences mesmerized as to how so many intricate drum patterns could come from his amazing throat & mouth, simultaneously. A fact that was not lost on some of the originators and pioneers of Hip Hop, for while attending a performance with his friend, Wanda Dee (who, like him, started off in Hip Hop and fell into Dance music) at The Universal Zulu Nations 30th Anniversary (October 2003 in Harlem); Turbo B. was pleasantly surprised when after Wanda's announcement of him and his accomplishments, he received a standing ovation to the strands of "The Power" by Hip Hop's elite, and AFRIKA BAMBAATAA (in full view of MELLE MEL, one of Turbo's chief inspirations) personally inducted him into The Universal Zulu Nation... a long overdue and well deserved honor to one of the architects of the Techno/Hip-House/Dance movement.
