Les Sherman Park, several locations, ne of wood bridge;
south of soccer field; and east of west baseball diamond.
- Botanical Name: Amelanchier alnifolia
- Drought Resistant/Sun-Partial Shade/Attracts wildlife
- Height & Spread: 3m x 2m
- Form: upright spreading
- Leaf: alternate; oval; yellow-red fall colour
- Fruit: edible, purple berry in mid summer
- Problems: apple curculio results in wormy fruit; aphids;
spidermite; Saskatoon rust
- Use: shrub border; shelterbelt; fruit is eaten by birds
and is good for eating and preserves
