Les Sherman Park, sw of soccer field.

  • Botanical Name: Hippophae rhamnoides
  • Drought Tolerant/Sun/Attracts Wildlife
  • Height & Spread: 4m x 3m
  • Form: upright spreading; leggy; suckers
  • Leaf: alternate; linear; grey
  • Bark: stems and side shoots end in sharp spines
  • Flower: not showy; male and female trees, both are needed for
    fruit production(1 male to 7 female)
  • Fruit: small, yellow-orange berries form densely on fruiting shoots
  • Use: shrub border; good for stabilizing slopes; fruit is eaten by birds
    and is good for jelly
