Awassa
South of Awassa, towards Yerg Alem, the country gets quite hilly
and densely forested.
Awassa itself is quite flat, and is more known for its lake.
It is a fairly big place and apparently is growing fast At one end
of the main street is the Ethiopian Orthodox church.
And at the other is the lake. We spent some time in the gardens of
the Wabe Shebele #2 hotel there. A nice place to relax,
smell the flowers,
watch the football,
and the monkeys. Btw, keep a sharp eye on your bread if you are eating
on the tables by the beach.
Some of the trees around town are enormous,
...here one on the campus grounds is getting a huge branch lopped
off for safety
