Rodney Rowland
1rst Lt. Bobby Griffen aka "Chaser"
The Character: Bobby Griffin is a character full of contradictions. On one hand he's a good pilot, and, after Kelly, the senior member of the team, capable of being totally professional and making the tough decisions. On the other he lacks a certain emotional maturity. Griffin's irresponsible wild streak may sometimes set him at odds with the his superior officers and while he will always back up his comrades in a furball, that committment may not necessarily carry over to non-combat situations. Bobby has always had an eye for the girls, but now finds the young woman he is dating is none other than his commanding officer's daughter. Bobby is energetic and determined, and will let nothing stand in his way.
Bobby and Janine
His birthday is February 20.
His favorite food is sushi.
"Hands down," his favorite sport is surfing. It's the
only sport he follows and he participates in it constantly.
He attended Pepperdine University at Malibu for two years; played
water polo there.
He got started in acting when he won his first role on a
television commercial after his first audition. A manager came up
to him the next day and said that he should be an actor, so he
went to acting classes for "years and years and years, and
here I am!"
Once he started, he just fell in love with acting. If the 'acting
bug' bit him, then it definitely bit him, grabbed him and hasn't
let go. He's a "very fortunate man" because he
"loves" what he does.
To unwind or relax, he'll stare out at the
ocean. He loves to see the light change, the water change as it
gets windy or calm out -- it's "being next to God" to
be near the ocean.
For a vacation spot, he'd combine his hobby and sports into one
and go surfing at some tropical paradise like Hawaii, Bali, or
Tahiti. "I'm not one for sitting around, I have to be
active!"
His first job was to teach swimming, since his father was a swim
teacher. From there, he went on to dishwashing, beach lifeguard,
and acting.
His favorite author is "Hunter S.
Thompson"????? (I've never heard of this person, so I'm not
sure I caught the name correctly.)
His favorite book is 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.'
He grew up in Malibu Canyon.
Growing up there was quite an experience; only about 200 people
in this tight community with no sidewalks or streetlights and
stores about 12 miles away. Walking around after dark was
interesting since there were coyotes and such around.
If he weren't an actor, he'd probably be a
police officer or detective -- he's not a 9-5 type of guy, so he
needs "something with a little bit of adrenaline rush, a
little risk."
The biggest influence on his life was a book called 'The Artist's
Way,' written by Julia Cameron, that "changed my life."
