Q*bert
is a great game!  Although the graphics and sound aren't quite as good as they were in the arcade version, the 2600 version of Q*bert is probably one of the better translations of an arcade game to the 2600.  You are an orange, furry guy with a big nose and no arms who hangs out on a pyramid of cubes.  You start each round at the top of the pyramid.  Your goal is to jump onto each cube and change it's color.  The trick to controling Q*bert is to hold your joystick with the fire button at the top center rather than at the top left, that way you can better control Q*bert's diagonal movement.  When you reach higher levels, you have to jump on cubes more than once to change the color 2 times.  On some levels, the colors change back to the original color if you jump on them again after reaching the color that you wanted, so you really have to plan out your moves to get each cube to end up as the correct color.  To make the game a bit more challenging, you must also avoid red and purple balls which bounce down the pyramid.  When the purple ball reaches the bottom of the pyramid, it turns into a snake named Coily who chases you around the pyramid.

On the sides of the pyramid are discs that you can jump on and ride back to the top.  If Coily is close by, he will jump off the side of the pyramid trying to catch you, but don't worry, once you are on the disc, he'll always fall.  If that wasn't enough, you must also contend with Sam (who looks like a green Q*bert with sunglasses).  Sam poses no threat to Q*bert, but will change the colors of the cubes back to the original color.  To help you out a bit, a green ball will sometimes bounce down the pyramid.  If you catch it, it will freeze the screen for a few seconds allowing you to work without dealing with the hazards of the pyramid.   Although there are a lot of Q*bert games out there, it is a very popular title which makes the price a bit higher than many of the other common games for the Atari 2600.  You should still be able to pick up a copy for around $5.
