Formerly known as Cute Naked Guy, Ugly Naked Guy lived in the apartment across the street from Monica’s. Seen only twice (once from the side and once from the back), the gang spent much of their time looking out Monica’s window into his apartment to see what he was up to.

Ugly Naked Guy has had some very interesting activities going in apartment 3B. He made his debut in the series when the gang watched him use a Thighmaster. He has also laid kitchen tiles, lit lots of candles during the city’s blackout, which started to drip, spent Thanksgiving with an Ugly Naked Gal, played with a hula hoop, and had gravity boots.

The following year, Ugly Naked Guy put up Christmas decorations, and played the cello (to which the gang was glad was not a smaller instrument). In the third season, Ugly Naked Guy slept in his hammock for so long the gang thought that he had died. We got our first look at the side of Ugly Naked Guy when they fashioned a pole out of chopsticks to poke him with to be sure he was still alive. To this, he showed them his own poking device that was never gonna make it all the way across the street.
Perhaps being poked by his across the street neighbors ticked him off so much he took a very long trip: Ugly Naked Guy did not make a single appearance in season four. Hmmm. Interesting. But he did return for what the gang thought may be their last time together, since Ross had told Emily that he wouldn’t see Rachel anymore. At seeing Ugly Naked Guy again at last, Phoebe exclaimed that she missed that fat bastard and Rachel says she missed that squishy butt.
In his final appearance on the show, Ross sees Ugly Naked Guy packing up his apartment (ironically, most of the boxes are labeled clothes) to move out. Ross tries to get his apartment, but has to find a way to bond with him. He quips that they’ve been watching him for five years, so he’s got back his edge. Later that day, the gang exclaims that Ugly Naked Guy has got a Naked Friend and then realizes that his friend is their friend! The best way to bond with Ugly Naked Guy was to become Naked Ross. We got our second and last look at Ugly Naked Guy’s back as Ross talked with him. The plan worked and Ugly Naked Guy moved out, renting out his apartment to Ross.
