Foreign-to-Christianity Islam would normally be simply another religious sect strictly adhered to by what appears to be an increasingly vast number of mostly outside-of-America cultics for which genuine Christians in general would have no real interest in exploring and certainly no Divinely-mandated need nor duty to delve into as to details thereof.
The reader should be aware that yours truly was never conditioned to either understand nor appreciate what he yet considers the equivalent of the strange "chicken-scratching" hieroglypic alphabet characters of the Arabic language. Such albeit-orderly-appearing scribbling is to me not currently intelligible, nor do I have any present desire to learn to attach specific universally-understood humanly-comprehended words and meanings to such.
It should be said that I honestly think that Hebrew alphabet lettering is not as weird as Arabic scribbling, and to me Hebrew letters have a sort of sacred association with the God of the Old-Testament/New-Testament Christian Bible. That is not to say that Arabic wording cannot be translated into English wording pertaining to Bible translations. Hebrew lettering is, of course, found in Hebrew-English interlinear Bibles and in Hebrew-English lexicons and concordances of Scriptural nature. And, it is associated with the blood-descendant offspring of not merely Ishmael's Abram (who mocked Isaac and thus was ousted out of the family of Abraham and Sarah), but rather of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (renamed Israel), thus deserving special respect and attraction.
Nowhere in the entire English-translations Christian Bible is the name of "allah" ever found, nor mention of the name "Mohammed" (supposedly, to islamic, THE "prophet" of "allah"). The somewhat-random disorganized moralistic and generally-hateful/pernicious/combative ramblings of the Koran (which, I have come to know is also known as the "Qur'an") was never part of my Christian Sunday School or Church Camp instruction. Hence, from childhood on, my parents, Christian friends, relatives, extended family, and peers who were believers and supporters of the Judeo-Christian Holy Bible did not demand nor even suggest that I research the contents of islamic superstition.
However, it is becoming clear that the religion of islamists or islamic (heard tell such are properly termed: "muslims" instead of: "moslems") is becoming more and more obvious and prevalent here in the United States, not simply because of increasing network TV, radio, and internet media attention and news reports associated with it, but especially:
(1) the in-person more-and-more-frequent sightings of particularly (and sometimes friendly/cordially-smiling) younger women in American communities very-modestly-and-most-admirably voluntarily dressed (perverts claim "excessively" modest) with scarf and robe coverings of "burka" and "hijab" and so on (which, by the way, are quite respectible exhibitions of laudable modesty to real Christians, similar to what traditional catholic nuns and Amish were and yet are attired with, not to mention the pioneer/pilgrim/puritan-reminiscent and non-feminist/sexist great-great-great grandmothers of most American citizens as they were also clothed with bonnets, long skirts with long sleeves, and boots), and
(2) plus the sad and uncomfortable sights of loveless, non-friendly-looking, foreign-lands-originated, arabic-faced younger males of probably-adamantly-against-Christianity islamic persuasion.
Thus, it behooves me, the author of this piece, and perhaps you the reader, to become aware of and cogently analyze some of the postulations of significant and hopefully-translated-accurately-into-English-wording portions of the Koran, with the intent of responding accordingly to those islamic who, of necessity, interact interdependently with Christians in American neighborhoods.
The Qur'an is divided into Sura or Surah (chapters) and further divided into Ayat (verses). For example, Surah Yusuf has 111 ayahs and resides between pages 235 to 248 in the Quran, Surah An-Nahl has 128 ayahs and resides between pages 267 to 281 in the Quran, Surah Ali has 200 ayahs and resides between pages 50 to 76 in the Quran.
Though I am, again, no expert or even quasi-professional amateur as to understanding Arabic, the Koran, nor proported shades of meanings of arabic words of the Koran, I will (and may you readers be patient with my probable dearth of knowledge and potentially-embarrassing ignorance concerning such), quote (verbatim?) some attention-captivating specific passages of what is assumed to be the generally-accepted singular/universal-version translation of the Qur'an (i.e. Koran):
Surah 4:156-159
Surah 4:171
Surah 5:5
Surah 5:51
Surah 5:72-73
Surah 5:82
Surah 8:37-39
Surah 9:29
Surah 19:88-95
Surah 19:34-35
Surah 47:4
It is quite apparent that muslims gulliby indoctrinated and brainwashed by Koranic anti-Biblical apostates and heretics (including the author or authors of the Qur'an itself) have extremely-serious misconceptions about Biblical Christianity and doctrines thereof.
First, the word "islam" does not mean "peace" but instead means: "submission" or "surrender." Root arabic semantics related to the precise word: "islam" do bespeak of "peace" - but only peace for those who have submitted or surrendered to islam and its often-contrary-to-Christianity doctrinal tenents, do not object to islam becoming the one and only acceptable religion on planet Earth, do not object to muslims using the sword against who they misconsider: "infidels" and: "unbelievers", and do not try to proselytize muslims into embracing any other religion.
Second, according to the Koran, Jesus Himself never actually nor physically died on a cross, so obviously then He was never brought back to life by resurrection.
Third, according to the Holy Bible of authentic Christians (and most accurate translations of such Scripture), Judas Iscariot was not the one who was crucified on a cross, but instead Jesus the son of Mary was crucified.
Fourth, God the Father (as described and named in the Holy Bible of Christians) did not and never did birth Jesus nor the Son of God. Jesus was birthed by Mary, who was Divinely made to conceive without the use of a human male and thus of course no sexual intercourse with any human male to produce Jesus.
Fifth, the Son of God was not and never birthed by God the Father (even though the Son was "begotten"), but rather the Son of God always existed in eternity past before He was conceived and incepted as both Son of God and Son of Man.
In the case of Jesus Christ, the Son-of-God part of Him (or nature) came from His Father, and the Son-of-Man part of Him (or nature) came from the human being Mary.
Sixth, of necessity, the concept of the Trinity is valid, being that even though God is One (Entity) there are Three Separate and Individual Persons (or Entities) within the overall Entity of God (called YHWH and Yahweh or Jehovah or The LORD as to English lettering).
Seventh, there is no record in Scripture (that I know of) which instructs Christians to specifically target to murder, kill, nor execute islamic nor muslims for their lack of belief in Jesus as their Atoning Redeemer from sin (although there admittedly is reference in the Old Testament to the Lord's prophet and soldier Joshua being ordered by the Lord to slay crescent-Moon-God-worshipping pagan-practice Canaanites who aggressively (and without justifiable cause) went to war against the Hebrews and consequently annihilated successfully by those Hebrews.
Eighth, it should be realized that the symbol islamics use on their flag is the crescent moon and stars, clearly an allusion to Canaanite-related astrological idolatry.
Muslims embracing the Koran proverbially "shoot themselves in the foot" by both condemning Christians and acclaiming Christianity, reminding us of the Biblical proverb of Solomon "Even when the fool walks on the road, he lacks sense, and he says to everyone that he is a fool" plus the verse "Every knee shall bow and all shall acknowledge that Jesus is the Lord".
Muslim heretics deceptively attempting to legitimize and sanitize Islam abound.
Be aware that the founder of modern-day islam (i.e. Mohammed) was born approximately 500 years after the birth of Jesus Christ, that the entire Old-and-New-Testaments Holy Bible was previously in existence by the time Mohammed was born, from which he obviously plagiarized much of the contents thereof with a plethora of hideous additions and substitutionary revisionism.
Indeed, even the Persian-empire-ruler Nebuchadnezzar was one who made the statement: "Whoever says anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshech, and Abednego shall be torn limb from limb, and their houses laid in ruins" after seeing that those three Hebrew men had survived his horrific flaming fiery furnace without being harmed in any way, and which three men were in company with a fourth Person who Nebuchadnezzar himself declared was one who looked like: "the Son of God".
To counteract lying and accursed muslim apostates perpetrating and crusading for islamic "evangelization" the following Christian Scripture verses are helpful:
Isaiah 9:6 To us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Proverbs 30:4 Who has ascended to heaven and come down? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has wrapped up the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is His Son's name? Surely you know!
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made.
12 As many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to those who believe in His name,
13 who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and lived among us, and we beheld His glory, glory of the only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
17 Law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
John 8:58 Jesus said to them: “Truthfully I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”
Colossians 1:12 ....the Father... has made us qualified to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light.
13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the Kingdom of His blessed Son,
14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins.
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature.
16 By Him were all things created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers: all things were created by Him and for Him.
17 And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist and are held together.
18 And He is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He might have the preeminence.
19 It pleased the Father that in Him all fullness of Deity resides,
20 and having made peace through the blood of His cross, by Him to reconcile all things to Himself — by Him, whether things on Earth or things in Heaven.
21 And you, who were once alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, even now has He reconciled
22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, blameless, and non-reprovable in His sight.
Hebrews 1:1 God, who in times past and in various ways spoke to the fathers by the prophets,
2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed Heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds,
3 who, being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, upholds all things by the word of His power; when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
4 being made so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
8 To the Son He said: “Your throne, God, is forever; a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your Kingdom.
9 You have loved righteousness and hated iniquity; therefore God, even Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness beyond your comrades.”
10 And: “You, Lord, in the beginning have laid the foundation of the Earth, and the heavens are the works of Your hands.
11 They will perish, but You remain; and they all shall get old like a garment.
12 And as a vesture shall You fold them up, and they shall be changed. But You are the same, and Your years shall never end.”
First John 5:7 There are three who bear witness in Heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these Three are One.
