Total gym is unlike any strength machine on the market today! Constructed of solid steel, Total Gym comes fully assembled right out of the box. It sets up in seconds and is so uniquely designed that moving from exercise to exercise is quick and easy. Adjusting resistance is a snap too! With the Total Gym, you lift a percentage of your body weight against gravity, so the resistance is smooth and fluid. To increase the resistance, simply raise the incline. At the lowest setting you are only lifting 4% of your body weight. At the highest setting - 60%. So whether you're a seasoned athlete or just starting out, the Total Gym fits your exercise needs.
Total Gym is so versatile it replaces an entire room of equipment. You can firm your stomach while tightening and toning hips, thighs and buttocks. You can sculpt sleek, sensual lines and build defined shoulders and arms while increasing age-defying flexibility. Total Gym lets you enjoy a total range of motion while raising your energy level and burning excess calories. All of this in a fraction of the time it would take with traditional free weights.
When you workout with the Total Gym, you workout with peace of mind. The Total Gym line has been used by professional athletes for years and is used in over 4,000 hospitals and rehab centers across the country. Total Gym is designed with your safety and comfort in mind. There are no heavy weights to lift, rubber bands to change, or "spotters" needed. Bottom line - Total Gym is safe, simple and effective enough for the whole family. What's more, when you're finished exercising, the Total Gym folds easily to slide under a bed or place in a closet

"I have been utilizing the Total Gym in my own workouts and in my students' fitness program since 1978. The improvements you have made in the Total Gym over those years have increased the motivational and testing values of the machine quite markedly. The two most difficult exercises for students to perform successfully in measuring arm flexor/shoulder girdle and arm extensor/shoulder girdle strength and endurance are the pull-up and the dip. With the pull-up bar and dip bar accessories added onto the Total Gym, students can perform these exercises from 16% up to 90% of bodyweight in about 7% increments. Seventy percent of male students and ninety percent of female students across America, who previously could not perform one pull-up or dip, will all succeed at varying levels on the Total Gym. No more zero scores! Successful performance on these exercises will most certainly enhance positive self-esteem and increase motivation for improvement."
"Thank you for informing me of the National A.A.U./Chrysler Fund study conducted by Dr. Wynn Updyke of Indiana University. I contacted him in August, 1992, and as you well know, following his January, 1993 visit to San Diego, he accepted Kroc and Marston Middle Schools' staff and students into the study. From September 1993 through May 1995, the students were tested on four occasions on various test items, two of which, the pull-up and supine press, were performed on Total Gyms, purchased for the study through the grant, and provided by your company. Six Total Gyms were wall-mounted at Kroc Middle School and three at Marston Middle School and I turned them over to the schools following the final testing."
"We employ the Total Gym for a variety of uses. I feel that it is a very useful addition for closed kinetic chain training, especially in a partial weight bearing position, such as with chondromalacia patients or with post-surgical knee problems. We use it for resisted hamstring strengthening along with upper body strengthening. The Total Gym is adaptable enough that we can use it for proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation diagonals for the upper extremity strengthening. We also use it in back rehabilitation for strengthening of the trunk and upper extremities. The Total Gym has been a solid piece of equipment since being used on a regular basis in my Clinic, with very minimal maintenance or breakdown."
"I am writing to you concerning my use of the Total Gym in the Clinic of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy. I feel that this piece of equipment is a valuable adjunct to several other forms of exercises that we use for rehabilitation. We see a lot of patients for orthopedic and sports injuries and we also see a lot of patients for post-surgical rehabilitation."
"When we first acquired the equipment in 1979, I must admit that I was a little skeptical and wondered seriously whether or not we would see adequate improvement in our patients and athletes. Well, after three years of laboratory testing we have found that the equipment works. It has been effective in affecting strength improvement in our rehabilitating patients, enables our participants to increase their flexibility and range of motion as measured by goneometric evaluation and for selected rowers, oarsmen, swimmers, bicyclists, skiers, and track athletes, we have measured, under laboratory conditions, significant strength improvement. When we first acquired the equipment in 1979, I must admit that I was a little skeptical and wondered seriously whether or not we would see adequate improvement in our patients and athletes.
