James A. Willis

James A. Willis, was born 23 Feb 1836 at Robertson County, Tennessee. He moved with his family to Hopkins County, Texas ca 1846.
His Father James A. Willis SR. died young and his mother Anna remarried John Jourdain. James had a older sister Sarah Jane Willis. James A. Willis married Mary Ann Proctor 30 April 1857 at Hopkins Co. TX. They had one child William Thomas Willis.
James entered the service, and from his muster roll records, he enlisted April 1, 1862 at Bright Star. He was placed in Co. E, 18th Texas Infantry, Ochiltree's Regiment as a Private. He was a Teamster.
The last entry I have on him is Jan-Feb. 1864. It has been told by his Grandson that he died while in the Civil War of Measles. It is not known where he died, or where he is buried.
