Gather around Come and sit by my fire Feel the warmth and let it warm your heart until you can tell me what you have done wrong. Gather around Do not listen to the outside telling you to stop Just listen to me and what I say Listen to me and you will understand. Gather around and go to sleep Feel you dreams take your sins away and fill you up with Immortality.Jennifer Jo Williams Brown
Sitting in a Closet with Jesus
Locked up in a closet lit by a bare 60-watt bulb. No one here but me and Jesus (who has some really cool shades and a sweet hog-leg) just sittin' around, bitchin' 'bout family reunions. Years, centuries, aeons go by, just the two of us stuck in this closet, with no food, no water, no companionship. Except maybe the two of us. Finally, a key turns in the lock, the door swings open on the outside world, fresh air, elbow room. That voice (you know which one) reaches in with "You ready to come out yet?" Jesus lowers his head in meditation, (thinking up some enlightening quip, perhaps) then looks up at the door. "No thanks, we're cool." I laugh. "I could really use a drink, though," I say. "How 'bout bringing me a beer?" A sigh and a head-shake taunt us from the hall. The door shuts, the key turns, the lock locks. The yellowed string hanging from the bulb swings its shadow on the thin, rusty coat hangers. Jesus turns to me, smirks a holy smirk, breaks out another joint.
