When
nature is the teacher, Connie Shults is the student in the center of the
front row. She had the good fortune to grow up in Northeastern Oklahoma
in one of the most beautiful parts of America, surrounded by the Native
American culture with its inherent love of the outdoors and deep respect
for all of earth's creatures, large and small. From early childhood
Connie was encouraged and taught by her mother to draw the wildlife
observed along the beautiful creek near her home. She has participated
in numerous workshops and has given a number of technique demonstrations,
including her feather art demonstration on the Artrain in February of
1998. She likes to paint detailed miniatures in acrylics and her favorite
subjects are Indians and wildlife, painted on feathers, rocks, wood, leather,
canvas and other things that fit the subject. To Connie, each picture is
a one of a kind creation and whatever she decides to paint a particular
subject on seems so logical and natural when the work is completed. She
has exhibited her work in a number of galleries and shows. In recent
months she has had buyers from Alaska, Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, and
Texas. At present, her work can be seen at the Bella Matiz gallery in Gainesville, Texas, Tiger Missing Link Foundation, Tyler, Texas, Beaver's Bend Wildlife Museum and Taxidermy in Hochatown, Oklahoma, as well as the Cedar Chest in Hochatown.
