- Trojans Demolish Diboll, 62-14
- Tues, Sep 22, 2009 10:57:36 AM CDT
- Coldspring's varsity football team bounced back from last week's loss in style, beating the Diboll Lumberjacks, 62-14. The Lumberjacks rolled into town owning a four-game win streak over the Trojans, but this one wasn't in doubt for very long, as COHS scored almost at will against a defense that now, strangely enough, has allowed exactly 62 points in three different games.
Offensive leaders for Coldspring included running back Andrew Leigh, whose five-touchdown performance included three rushing TDs and two more receiving. Senior quarterback Chad Allen had a career-best night passing, as he tallied 215 yards and 3 TDs on 8-of-9 passing. Defensively, Sherman Gilbert and Ashton Perry had interceptions and leading tacklers were Trey McKinney, Leonard Arbor, Sherman Gilbert, and Taylor Kelley. With the win, the Trojans improve their season record to 3-1. They will start district 22-3A play this Friday when they host the Huffman Hargrave Falcons at 7:30.
