With the season coming up, i will try to stay on the ball as long as i can have access to a computer... Since i will be in Iraq, that may be difficult, but at least i will have plenty of time. Hopefully i can add notes every week on here as well, and get the message board going again, but for now, check out the board for any new discussions and check out the pre-season rankings for 2005. There will be district standings, previews and other material soon, so keep an eye out.

Okay! After two years, i finally decided to update this webpage! while i may never be able to compete with the big dogs, no one will ever do 2a quite like me(humbly, of course). But now i have a new task- from now on i will rank every class, because i need to branch out, and everyone needs their fix, and hopefully you will see me out and about doing some promoting for this site and my new sister station, www.Texashsfootball.com!

My friend Chris will doubly post my rankings, so everyone can catch a glimpse(and have a chance to whine about them!)It's good to be confident, because i know i will hear it all year long, as always, but i'm only doing it for you, the fan.

Isn't that nice?

So until next week, or next month, or whenever, stay tuned for my top 225 in 5A, 223 in 4A, and the rest of the rnakings and previews leading up to the start of the football season.

Hello everyone, and welcome to yet another crazy season of high school football. This year is like 1998, in that many of the top teams are losing in pre-district action, and that means less teams will have perfect records come november. But after a few weeks we can already judge the favorites for each region for the post season (celina, sonora, spearman, corrigan-camden, mart, refugio and garrison). Don't worry, however, this season, although a down one for most established powerhouses, will probably end up theirs anyway, since none of the surprise teams are at quite the caliber to beat celina, sonora, mart, c-c or the others. Hope you enjoy my new top 100 and maybe soon i can get the forum back-online.

Hopefully, for whoever is reading this, your football team's year was a good one. I can't say I'm disappointed with how Celina has done, but i'm little worried about next year, as always. The Bobcats should pull through, however, and I hope that they break the consecutive wins record next year. Mart should be good, although not as good as last year, and the same goes for Refugio, Lone Oak and Olney. Some early teams to watch are Holliday, Whitewright, and Sonora....

It's been almost two months since I updated this site, and I'm sorry, i've been very busy. But I now have a new computer and will complete update all the records and rankings over this next week. It's been a wild pre-district, but that ends completely in two weeks. Mart did not look particularily impressive against Marlin, but the Panthers and Celina remain the teams to beat. In the other classes, Aledo, Katy, Midland Lee, Garland, Wolfforth Frenship have all looked good, but Kendal Briles' new home suffered it's first defeat of the year. Crockett is looking unbeatable in 3A, with close wins over tons of great teams in the non-district schedule. Texas City, La Marque and Stephenville have all already lost, but look for all of them to be in the hunt come December. In 2A, Thorndale and New Deal have been among the most pleasant surprises, and Comfort looks much more polished than supposed district champion Blanco, but that could change. Eric Pecina and a slew of inuries have nearly ended Gunter's season already, one that began with legitimate state boasts. Guess no off-season hurts in more ways than one....But the biggest gain of all has been made by Holliday, my underdog of the year and at one point ranked 8th by me in the spring........... maybe i should have given them more romm to grow in the final preseason poll.....

With that happy note, i'll exit...... but the season has only just begun.

Rixey-Happy birthday to me......

I am considering making an old fashioned poll with you fans as voters(see info on home page). Interest in the Mart/Celina mythical game grows each day, as does the interest in the district playoff race in 21-2A. Some new pages are in development, and some new information coming out as the summer heats up. Congratulations to the Celina Bobcats, who won the state 7-7 championship on July 24! stick around, when the football previews for the Dallas Morning News on August 24, with the AP polls. Until then keep watching!

I hope you enjoy the team previews.... coming soon will be a comprehensive listing of the top players in the state at each position. I will make a top 10 for each major position (QB, RB, WR/TE, OL, DL, K/P, DB/DE, LB) and highlight the star players that will make a huge impact. That's coming soon, but for now enjoy the new previews and finalized district projections and top 100. -CR-

Before i update you on some news, i would like to tell you about one of Dave Campbell's Texas football's shortcomings. In the high school section, the top 25 ranking are based on regional distribution, which means whoever ranks the teams spreads them nearly evenly throughout the regions. Well, I know from experience that this does not make a comprehensive ranking of the BEST teams in the state. Hamlin(18 on the DC poll) should not be in front of any of those teams mentioned in the next paragraph. NOT EVERY REGION HAS A EQUAL NUMBER OF GOOD TEAMS, IN RELATION TO EACH OTHER. This is why my rankings devoid of certain regions at points, because, for instance, this year there are at least 12 Region 3 teams in my top 25, and only 3 or 4 from West Texas. This is because the quality of east texas teams is greater this year, and i'm not going to try to appease people with equal representation. After all, this is not a democracy. Only one team can be the best.

I have received the new dave campbell magazine, (after camping at the newsstands) and am already working on the team previews. It will be a while before i can upload the information, due to vacation and work, but it should be ready the week-end after independence day. MY goal is to bring you the most comprehensive 2A information and news every week, and hopefully, i may have my own newspaper column soon... keep tabs on the site in the next few weeks..... Also, if you want a sneak peak of Campbell's top 25 for 2A.. here it is.. the numbers in parenthesis are what ranked those teams in my first preseason reankings....remember, that was four months ago...1. Mart(2), 2. Celina(1), 3. Corrigan-Camden(4), 4. Refugio(5), 5. Sonora(13), 6. Gunter(6)..that is all i can remember, since i don't have it with me, but one noticeable difference was Lone Oak at 21, which in my final poll will be closer to 6. They are underestimating that team, as well as Bangs, Farmersville, Hemphill, East Bernard, and East Chambers, none of which were ranked....Also look for an interesting story of what will decide if celina and mart play each other, coming next week... If you want any other information, be sure to buy a copy of DC's Texas Football. It's worth the scouting reports.

Please be watching in a few weeks..... Rixey

Things have been pretty quiet for a while now... Now that Chad Morris is gone from EF, where to next? I have recieved full information on Lone Oak next year, check team previews soon for that...My preseason top 100(in a preliminary version) will be up soon as well. Still requesting information on any teams regarding returning players and other info. Not much happening right now, but things will begin to pick up steam in a month or two. Watch for new links to the 2A trash-talk page, Collier-Sharp and TexasFootball, among others... Also, check out the forum and add your comments!

I haven't updated in a while, so here goes. Recent reports say Chad Morris of Elysian Fields is going to Bay City next year....I'll have to ask jmar about that, or if any of you know, please email me..Bangs is reported to have a large number of young veteran starters ready to make a run at the Region 2 Div. 2 Crown....We'll see what happens in the third round, i guess...After mapping out a projection of the playoffs for next year, i have discovered the Divsion 1 Regional Championship games could likely be: Canadien(12-1) falls to Holldiay(13-0), Pilot Point(10-3) falls to Farmersville(13-0), Elysian Fields(12-1) falls to Corrigan Camden(13-0), and Lexington(11-2) beats Dilley(11-2). Then Holliday defeats C-Camden for the crown. This is only a guestimate, so humor me. Stanton(13-0) wins the west, Celina beats Millsap(6-5), Goldthwaite (11-1), Italy (12-1), and then Gunter(13-1), which defeats Bangs (12-1) in the third round. Mart beats Hemphill(10-2) in round 2, Lone Oak (12-1) and then Alto (13-1) in the quarterfinals. Refugio beats East Bernard (12-1) in the regionals and then Ganado (13-1) in the quarters. Mart beats Refugio(14-1) in the semis and Celina beats Stanton (14-1) in the other semifinal. Celina (16-0) beats Mart (15-1) in the final. These are just preliminary, and i will try to make a bracket by the time the playoffs roll around, so for now, just enjoy these predictions and email me with any questions.

2/28/2000

Since this is my first time, i'll update you on what's going on. I am a fan of High School Football, and this is my first attempt at a web page. I am a fan of the Celina Bobcats(The two-time defending State Champions in Class 2A Division II!) and starting in july, I will begin posting my weekly top 100. I have compiled these rankings for two years, and in the playoffs my pick record is 160-32(.833%) since then. My rankings are designed to show the best teams in the state(in my opinion) based on their success against other teams, NOT on the best records. There is no mathematical process involved in my rankings, only conjecture based on evidence. I will update the district standings, preview the next week's highlight games, and pick the winners for all games involving two teams from my top 100, or from the top 10's of the other classes(1999 record: 164-21 .886%). One of these games will be the game of the week, and a poll will be taken to see who the public thinks will win. I'm sorry for the unfinshed look of the site, but the look of the site will be finished soon, whenever i learn how to import graphics correctly. Sorry for being long-winded, but bookmark this site for the future, and email me with any questions. -CR-
