IGUANAS SHOULD BE HOUSED IN AN AREA THAT IS @ TWICE THEIR LENGTH. INCLUDE CLIMBING BRANCHES,WATER BOWL, HEAT BASKING LIGHTS, FULL SPECTRUM LIGHTS LESS THAN 12 INCHES FROM IGUANA. BEDDING VARIES ON THE SIZE AND AGE OF YOUR IGUANA. BARK IS RECOMMENDED FOR BABIES SINCE IT HOLDS THE HUMIDITY BETTER THAN OTHER SUBATRATES. REMEMBER THESE ARE TROPICAL ANIMALS AND NEED A HABITAT THAT IS SIMILIAR TO THE RAIN FOREST. A temperature controlled heat rock is essential to digestion. Baby Iguanas require extreme high humidity in their cages. We have found the easiest way to do this is with a ten gallon tank. You will need a screen top, uv full spectrum light strip, uv basking light, and a night heating light. At this stage we recommend an undertank heater. This will aide in raising the humidity. Please remember they will not be in this tank for very long, but long enough to grow and become less fragile. To produce the same effects as a heat rock you can put a rock directly under the basking light it heats the rock and helps aide in digesting their food. Keep good track of the humidity and temp in your tank. All setups require uv full spectrum light strips, uv basking light, and temp controled heat rocks. Substrate varies from bark when babies to aspen as juveniles and adults. Iguanas are tree climbers and need to climb please include branches for them to climb especially under the basking light. Fake foliage is fine for color. Always remember to give them plenty of room to move around. Never pick up an iguana by it's tail it will drop off, yes it will regenerate but never be ike the original. Take your iguana out for atleast 20 minutes a day for interaction this will ensure they remain tame and loveable. Do not take out for at least 5 days after purchase you must allow the animal to adjust to it's new home. It needs to de-stress. Iguanas also love to swim. Babies require baths every day for 20 minutes in tepid water. NEVER LEAVE THE IGUANA ALONE DURING HIS BATH SESSION. Adults and juveniles should get baths 3-4 times a week. This is an easy way to potty train your iguana to water once they deficate change the water and let them swim. This is required since they absorb water through their skin. BEWARE MAKE SURE THE WATER IS TEPID AND NOT HOT YOU CAN HARM YOUR IGUANA IF TOO COLD OR TOO HOT THE WATER SHOULD BE TEPID ONLY.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Iguanas can grow to 6 plus feet be a aware of this before purchasing a baby. They can live along time in the proper habitat and with the proper care.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mist in AM and PM, be sure to provide a water dish iguanas do drink water when needed. Little iguanas are very wiggly use care when handling. Always ensure the proper diet and housing. Iguanas are very loveable and if given love and respect you will get the same in return.
