About The Gospel
The Gospel is the good news that God sent his son Jesus to die on the cross so that whoever believes in Jesus will not perish but will have everlasting life.
There is no catch to this, it is freely available to all who call on the name of the Lord. All you need to do is pray to God.
Now while there is no catch, God will only save you to an eternal life in His heaven with His conditions. His conditions mean perfect love, faith, faithfulness, peacefulness, gentleness, kindness, selflessness, patience and obedience. This means being prepared to give up our thoughts, attitudes and behaviours that work against God's conditions. This is what the Bible calls repentance. God promises to forgive and forget all your wrong attitudes and wrongdoing. He will forgive what you ask Him to.
The bible does not give a detailed explanation of why God has chosen this way to give eternal life. But it does outline the history of events that led up to the cross. This history covers a period of over 4,000 years and was recorded over a period of 1,500 years by around 40 different authors. There are over 25,000 ancient copies of the bible. Most are just fragments, but there are several whole copies and many full books. These go back as far as 1 BC in age and represent the most prolific set of ancient documents of any kind in existence today. These copies are also much closer in age to the originals than most (if not all) other known ancient documents. All of this gives a lot of confidence in the accuracy and truth of the original writings.
