STATEMENT

Some time during the year 1885, Mrs Catherine Lockwood, a daughter of Gordon C. Jennings deceased informed me that her father Gordon C. Jennings was killed by the Mexicans at the siege of the Alamo.  That her father was never married but one time, and married Mrs. Catherine McCutcheon, about 1820 and by him had four children.  1st. Abigal born 20 Oct. 1822- who married John Talk, and died in the summer of 1855- 2d. Joseph Born 24 June 1824, and died intestate and unmarried in 1847.  3d. Catherine (herself) born 15th Dec 1826, who married Caper (sic) Whistler when she was about 10 years (marked through and 15 1/2 added above) years old, and after he was killed by the indian married Sylvester Lockwood, who died 6 Jan 1889, and 4th. Samuel K. born in 1828, married ---and died---and that her mother's maiden name was Catherine Overton, and that she first married Vincan (Vincent) Avery, and by him had only one child, named Willis; that after Vincen (Vincent) Avery's death she married---McCutchen, and by him had only one child named Wm. - that her mother the said Mrs. Catherine Jennings, died at her son's Wm. McCutcheons residence in Williamson Co. on Sept 1. 1867- that the estate of her father Gordon C. Jennings was administered upon in Bastrop County and that the west half of her father's league, near Manor in Travis Co. was sold during the course of administration, but the East half of the league was turned over to his heirs, her mother, brother Saml, sister Abigal, and herself, and they divided it between them 1/4 to each her mother taking a childs part, that each party got a deed from the others and took possession of the part allotted him or her in the partition as made and claimed no other part of the league.
