Roots In Cottonwood ~Henderson County, Texas

 

This is most likely the first home that my great grandfather had in Cottonwood community or Mance, TX . This picture was made in 1908. Robert Flemmons Roberson and Robert Davis standing, John R. in the wagon, Mary Willmon Roberson, Bobbie Roberson Davis holding Delmas Davis, ”Ard” Roberson, Bertie Roberson Blackwell, Kate Roberson Davis,and Hattie Roberson Davis.

When he came to Texas in Jan. of 1871, his family camped near these trees. His brother, Ellis D. and his father-in-law's family (Shepard and Caroline Standphill Willmon and others came with them).

    

1. JOHN1 ROBINSON was born Abt. 1780 in VA., and died Bef. 1862 in Alabama?.  He married NICE GRAVETT Abt. 1800 in Virginia, daughter of  ELLIS GRAVETT.  She was born Abt. 1785 in VA., and died Bef. 1862 in Madison Co AL ?.

Ala..  He married (2) ELMRIA BROCK July 30, 1854 in DeKalb County Alabama.  She was born 1824 in North Carolina, and died October 10, 1892 in Erath County Tx.
