In an effort to do that, I am asking you to report any known missing stone. Please provide a brief description of the cemetery it was taken from and the stone's inscription. If at all possible, send a picture. You can send me the picture by email attachment or ask for my snail mail address.
In addition, please inquire at your local police department or sheriff's office for any stones in the Property Room or for a depository where recovered stones have been stored. There are recovered stones that have not been returned to their original site. These stones have not been returned because no one knows where they belong. If you know of a depository for such stones, would you make an effort to get the information and pass that along? If you are unable to do the footwork, then send along what information you have.
For those of you who are looking at this site in hopes of finding a missing headstone, check out the RECOVERED STONES page. Stones that have been found, but no cemetery located, will be posted here.
Thank you for your interest in recovering our heritage and honoring our ancestors.
My kindest regards,
Faye Elder
