PROUD OF MY NATIVE HERITAGE

They were proud to fight for their country.
They were also proud to be members of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin.

VOICES FROM THE LAND

VOICES FROM THE LAND

For ten thousand years this was our land.

Then you came and we extended our hand.

As Brothers we helped you.

As Brothers we shared.

You smiled as you took, but you didn't care.

You pushed, you shoved, you lusted, you hated.

You dug and you tore, but, you still are not sated.

Mother Earth cries out, she hurts and she bleeds.

And in four hundred years, you still will not see.

You raped us, you killed us, forced on us your beliefs.

You put us in boxes, caged us, gave us no relief.

You gave us poisons, your diseases and more.

You kept us downtrodden, beat us, kept us poor.

You took our sons and daughters, kept us from our land.

And even though you did this we still extend our hand.

We survived through it all, though you still tell your lies.

You call us gone, you call us dead, but we have blood ties.

We are your neighbors, your friends, your loved ones so dear.

We pray for you, Peace, Open Hearts and that you see and hear.
