Sacred Heart of Jesus

Day One

First Promise: "I will give them all the graces neccessary for the their state of life"

Reflection

In every field of activity, in every form of employment, in every profession, exalted or humble, in all there is being waged the hidden conflict of life. It is a combat between our lower and higher selves as St. Paul stated:

"I see another law in my members, fighting against the law of my mind and CAPTIVATING me in the law of sins"

WE NEED GODS GRACE in this ceaseless warfare. We need the assistance of the sacrament to lead good lives, for the sacraments sustain us just as food sustains the physical body. We need this divine aid for NO ONE can be saved thru his own merit or strength. Do you pray to secure the graces to combat your lower nature and to try again if you fail: to keep hopeful despite the many temptations and failures? The Sacred Heart of Jesus promised to St Margaret Mary that he would give the necessary graces we all need in our various state of life.

  • Say to the Sacred Heart:
    Jesus, my teacher and my master, my Lord and my God;
    Give me a loving heart, filial towards God and thy Blessed Mother;
    Fraternal towards Thee and all mankind especially my unfortunate brothers.
    O God the Holy Ghost, give me light to contemplate the love and the passion of Jesus,
    That i may be changed into love and patience:
    Take from me selfisheness,self love, cowardice and fear;
    Give me a spirit of endurance, a love of labor and the Cross, and an enduring desire to help poor:
    that I may be willing to spend, and to be spent for your sake. Amen.

    Condensed from the"Novena of the Sacred Heart" Catholic Trade Center, Manila,

  • "The all powerful love of my Heart will grant, to all those who shall receive Communion on the First Friday of nine consecutive months or nine consecutive Fridays or nine successive days and remember me during my Feast Day, the grace of final repentance; they shall not die under my displeasure, nor without receiving their Sacraments. They shall find in my heart an assured refuge during life and especially at the hour of death. " is one of the most powerful promise he made to Saint Margaret Mary. Probably no other promise has brought more lusters to the First Friday devotion than to know, that not only in life, but also especially in the brink of eternity will the Sacred Heart watch over and protect you.
