Day Five

Fifth Promise: "I will shed abundant blessings upon all their undertakings."

Reflection

As we tread the weary road to life, we need the encouragement of the day to keep our heads raised to heaven and do what is right and succeed in our daily work-a-day- life. It all proves the scriptural thought” we have NOT here a resting place." In this place it is heartening to know that we have a promise that blessings will be showered upon our enterprise. We have in our little way, hope and aspiration to do great things and succeed in life for the glory of our Lord and Master.

  • Have you asked for Christ's blessings upon your endeavor, knowing that one excellent form of confidence is to request for a favor. "Ask and you shall received" is the first step in our part.

  • Say to the Sacred Heart:
Dear Lord, Thou sayest "Come to me all you who labor and I will refresh you" behold me at your feet,
O my God , burdened and suffering but full of confidence in your promise.
O my Lord and Savior, have pity on me
as you had pity on blind to whom you gave back their sight.
Have pity on me as you have pity on the deaf whose ears You opened,
and on the dumb whose tongue you loosened.
Have pity on me as you had pity on the multitude whom you fed in the wilderness.
O Divine Hear of Jesus, source of all resurrection,
of all life, of all health, of all light ,
of all strength, of all consolation
and of all hope and grace, Have pity on me. AMEN

Condensed from the"Novena of the Sacred Heart" Catholic Trade Center, Manila,

  • "The all powerful love of my Heart will grant, to all those who shall receive Communion on the First Friday of nine consecutive months or nine consecutive Fridays or nine successive days and remember me during my Feast Day, the grace of final repentance; they shall not die under my displeasure, nor without receiving their Sacraments. They shall find in my heart an assured refuge during life and especially at the hour of death. " is one of the most powerful promise he made to Saint Margaret Mary. Probably no other promise has brought more lusters to the First Friday devotion than to know, that not only in life, but also especially in the brink of eternity will the Sacred Heart watch over and protect you.
