ST. MARGARET MARY ALACOQUE

St.Margaret Mary popularized the prayers and devotion to the Sacred Heart. She was born in France on July 22nd in 1647. While still a child, she consecrated her heart to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Her father died when she was 8 years old. She was bed-ridden with rheumatic fever from the ages of 11-15. She was a cripple but the Blessed Mother cured her. To thank God for the cure she promised to give her life to His service. When she was seventeen, Jesus appeared to her just as He was after He was scourged. At once she entered the Order of the Visitation in order to dedicate herself wholly to Jesus. She was subjected to many trials and sufferings, but she underwent all of them for the love of Jesus. Sister Margaret Mary loved our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament very much.  He showed her His Sacred Heart in four visions.  The flames that came forth from His Heart remind us of His burning love for us and His desire that we love Him in return.  The crown of thorns around His Heart reminds us of sacrifice to make up for sin. Jesus made at least twelve promises to her telling her how He would help those who honor His Sacred Heart. Jesus said to her:  "Look at this Heart which has loved people so much, and yet they do not want to love Me in return. Through you My divine Heart wishes to spread its love everywhere on earth. " This she humbly did". Saint Margaret Mary died in 1690.The devotion that our Lord gave to the world through her was officially approved by Pope Clement XIII in 1765. She was canonized by Pope Benedict XV in 1920. Her feastday is October 16.
To receive the graces and blessings of his 12 promises, which he wishes you to have, make a commitment today to start the Nine Consecutive First Fridays (or nine Consecutive Fridays or nine consecutive days) Devotion.
