ITEMS REQUIRED:
-Stanley sidemarkers :)
-Metal nibblers from Radioshack
-Pattern Utensil for creating guidelines (cut out of cardboard or thin metal)
-Drill w/ 3/8" tip
-Masking tape (the weaker version, usually comes in black)
-Paper tape (perfect for drawing pattern on)
-20' 22awg wire from Radioshack (I buy extra always just to be sure ;))
-Proper electrical connectors (the round ones already equipped on Stanley markers, 2 male 2 female)
-2 T connectors (for going into cornerlight wiring)
-Color matched body paint (to paint the inside lining of the openly exposed cut in the fender)
Step 1. You should make sure that you have a proper template for this sidemarker to fit. Cut it out of strong cardboard and check it over and over to make sure that it is precise.
Step 2. Remove the wheel well and be CAREFUL not to strip the stupid plastic screws that expand once screwed in. Those things like to strip. Also remove the corner light as it is easier to tap into these wires once it is out.
Step 3. Clean the fender real nice so the tape will stay on well during the whole process. Remember, the tape is stopping the paint from chipping around ur cuts.
Step 4. Apply the masking tape very slowly as to not get any wrinkles or creases in it. Afterwards do the paper tape over that. Then, take a marker and trace your template onto the paper tape.
Step 5. Once this is done drill a hole somewhere in the center of the sidemarker outlining, remember, 3/8" AT LEAST (thats whats needed for the nibbler tool to fit).
Step 6. Now just start nibbling away. My best advice to you is, nibble slowly. At first do not go straight to the edge of the outline you made. Take it slow and just approach getting the middle part of the body cut out and work from there.
Step 7. Once you're pretty much done cutting all the material from the middle it is time that you approach the edges. At this stage you can either use a dremmel or the nibblers (the nibblers are more difficult to expect where the cutting line will be). Just make ABSOLUTELY SURE that you go SLOW. Going slow is the key to prevent fender buckle and chipping paint. You also do NOT want a bigger hole than you need for the sidemarker.
Step 8. Once your sidemarker fits then it is time for the wiring. On a g3 this may be different but on my sexyass DA I chose the amber portion of the corner light (of course on the 1-pieces you have only one option ;) ). Just use your two T-taps from the earlier recommended supplies and tap into its negatvie and positive wires. When you run these wires to the sidemarker be sure to remember which one is which. Once they are ran to the fender hole connect the electrical connectors corresponding to the ones on the sidemarkers. Connect them to the sidemarkers and make sure everything works before you even consider putting them in.
Step 9. From here you can do two things. Do the body paint then put the sidemarkers in or the other way around. For awhile I didn't use the body paint and the exposed metal from my cuts rusted, the call is yours. All it takes is a couple of coats around the bare metal...let it dry, then remove the masking tape. Then your all ready to install the sidemarkers with the proper electrical connections connected.
Step 10. Reverse install all the wheel well and corner light. I would also recommend heavily cleaning the fender once you have removed all the tape and such because of the gunk the masking tape leaves behind.
WALLAAAA! Right now you should have a big smile on your face because the sidemarkers look a little something like this...
