Akron's ONLY social group for GLBTQ Teens
UPDATE: October 6, 2004: We rehearsed for the hate crime vigil tonight, the show is next Tues, Oct 12 at The Church of Our Savior in Akron (471 Crosby St.) Please come support Glamour Pride!! September 15, 2004: Here are some CHANGES to the group!! We are now meeting back at the Pride Center on Wednesday nights at 6 o'clock. NEXT WEEK ONLY, Sept 22, we will be meeting at 5:30 at the Pride Center. We are working on the Hate Crimes Vigil and WE NEED YOU!! If you want to The vigil will be Tuesday, October 12 at the Church of our Saviour at 7pm. (email us for more info) We will be doing exerts from The Laramie Project and have poems and so on. BUT WE NEED YOU to participate!! So PLEASE make an effort to come! Tonight we also talked about having a movie night next month, going to a haunted house and having another weekend retreat. We have some exciting things going on so make sure you come and check us out!
The 2nd Annual GLBTQ Teen Prom is on May 1, 2004, 7:00-11:00 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Akron at 3300 Morewood Rd. (a street off West Market Street across from Summit Mall). Tickets for the Prom are $10 advance sale or $15 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at the Akron Pride Center ((330) 253-2220 or, by e-mail, info@akronpridecenter.org), at meetings of GLAMOUR Pride, at meetings of Diversity Alliance, and at other outlets. The Prom is open to GLBTQ people and straight allies who are 13-20 years old. The prom will have a professional DJ, karaoke, lighting, a fog machine, celestial decor, photography, commemorative programs and gifts, and contests. 50 teens and 30 volunteers from Summit and Stark counties attended the prom last year; more are expected this year. The theme of this year's prom, as decided by the teen prom-planning committee, is "A Walk in the Clouds".
