Plot: The plot is lacking somewhat.  I did not find any large holes per se, but it is funny how the six greatest young hackers in the world live on the same block.  Of course, this movie was made before computers were in every home, so they could get away with a few liberties.

Originality: Upon its release, this movie was pretty original.  I don't remember seeing anything like this before it was released.  Of course, take computers out and throw in a heist and this movie has been done many times over.

Acting: The acting was alright.  I was surprised around every corner to recognize character actor after character actor.

Genre: Inside of its genre, this has to be one of the best movies. Movies about computers are usually about a computer taking over the world (plain dumb) or it spends a lot of time showing people typing (plain boring). This movie is more about the characters interacting, but of course there is an evil corporation who wants people to pay for things.  Imagine the evil in that!

Entertaining:  Hackers is moderately entertaining.  It makes a good movie to watch on a Saturday afternoon, but it does not demand repeat viewing.

Directing: The direction was decent, I suppose.  Nothing stands out and it could have been easily a hack job (no pun intended).  Some of the special effects (shown as computer images) were probably high tech at the time of its initial release.

Script/Dialogue: The script was decent, although highly unlikely and a little stupid (mostly about the embezzling of the money).  There are some really funny lines and at the time the "language" used was very hip.  It seems a little aged now, but that is not any fault of the movie.

Misc: I gave it some bonus points for being a better movie than it should have been.  It is a movie some will appreciate and others will hate.  It is a little dated, but not by much.  We hear about these viruses all the time.

Final Comment: Hackers is a decent movie, I don't recommend buying the DVD for more than $10.00, as I'm not confident how many times a person would watch it.  There is a lot of well known character actors which to me are amusing to watch before they were stars.  Not to mention, Angelina Jolie is always nice to watch.

DVD Features: I did not see the DVD version, as I watched it on cable.
