My body as a shield

Thursdays card

MFC-092 My Body as a Shield
Quickplay Spell Card – Common
When your opponent activates a card that has the effect that destroys 1 or more monsters on the field, pay 1500 Life Points to negate the activation of the card and destroy it.

Greg's review:

Well this may be only a common but that is besides the fact. This is what I call mini solemn judgement 1500 is an awful lot but when you have something really good on the field or something that is needs or essential to your deck then 1500 will negate any of the following

1. riageki

2. dark hole

3. trap hole

4. riageki break

5. torrential tribute

6.) mirror force

allot more.....................

So it pretty much lets you pay 1500 and you can negate something that kills monsters I am not sure if it works for a monsters effect because it does not specifically say I think it does but I guess we have to wait for the ruling to be sure but anyways I give it a  3/5 it is a heavy pay and not for many decks but it might be nice in a  deck with a card like dark paladin or a card that you do not want dying. ................

Alex's review:

This is a slight twist on a Magic Jammer, but it doesn't seem to shine in my eyes.  There are many cards it can negate such as Raigeki, Dark Hole, Torrential Tribute, Raigeki Break, Exiled Force, Jowgen the Spiritualist, and many others.  If the only drawback was a discard, opposed to lifepoint payment, I would like it more.  It seems playable, but I have a feeling it just won't hold up.  Against a duelist that runs beatdown, there may not be a lot of uses for this card, due to the fact that beatdowns don't run massive amounts of monster removal.  The only advantage this has over Spell Shield Type-8 (now has made Magic Jammer obsolete) is that it can negate traps.  The downside is, the only traps that get much play that destroy monsters are Torrential Tribute, Mirror Force, and Raigeki Break.  All in all its not a bad card, but there is room for improvement.
